ok to clearify a few things;
1.Shows and games that folow the rules of anime are fair game, but be aware you must work to be good at what you do. so while you could be an amazing pilot with a bit of training you would still have to train to become so.(same with bending or magic)

2. while i love firefly it is not an option here

3. the mass effect and halo animes dont count as they dont follow the anime rules, sorry.

as in, everything you do becomes part of the story.
that would leave you with so many oppertunities for hilarity, either by breaking the fourth wall or just messing up the storyline.

all things considered, I think I'd go to bakuman, in a not-so-crazy world where idealism actually gets you somewhere.

no you can't chage established story unless there are multipule universes to said anime/game, (fate stay knight is one example of this.) but you can have fun with things you know from their past.

oh one last thing HENTAI is not an option sorry but you dont get off that easy

Had a similar discussion with an otaku friend of mine many years ago--at that time I came to
the conclusion that Ah! Megamisama! would be the best (even if you don't get with a goddess,
nothing *too* bad can happen in a world with Belldandy in it). He one-upped me by saying he'd
go into Megami Paradise. Had to admit, he had a point there.
Now that I've got a kid (and MLP:FIM seems to be against the rules...) I'd probably go with
the majority and say Pokemon...would my money work in the Pokemon world? If not I'd work for
a couple of pokeballs to get started...since this would be the anime not the game I couldn't
just go to Goldenrod city & play a card game to get my starter, but the anime shows that pokemon
can be caught by a human alone (Satoshi {Ash} catching his Krabby). Catch some Meowth, train them
until they can use Pay Day and we'd be set for life...could just wander the pokemon world with
cool pokemon friends...might give me a chance to test my theory about Nurse Joy...definitely
pitch some wooo to Hanako {Delia}...judge me if you want.

1. you can only be as strong as any other HUMAN can be in said world.(IE. you can only be as strong a krillin in DBZ if you went to that world.)

Since you said anime/manga I am going to automatically assume that I can include visual novels...if that is ok.

I would choose the Little Busters (I would prefer the Visual Novel to the anime but meh) world, but only if I can be the protagonist. I have always seen that protagonist to be very close/similar/ the same as me. And I love that Visual Novel with all my heart.
Also because it is based in the Key animeverse with other series such as Clannad, Kannon, Air and Angel Beats. Which there is mysterious supernatural stuff going on.

I would love to see everything Riki (The protag) does, and after we get passed the Little Busters plot we go into Kud Wafter...which is awesome! :3

Barring that, though, it's a tough decision. I think I'll go with Angel Beats for now, simply because the half of the world shown in the series is the afterlife and the earth itself seems to exist as it does in our world. Even if I'm dumped into the afterlife, it'd be fun to engage in various antics with a lack of real, long-term consequences for a while. Then when I've had my fill, I'd just get reborn. I probably wouldn't remember anything after being reborn, of course, but, hey, I'm dead anyway.
