World of Darkness/Vampire: The Masquerade MMO Unveiled

In the recent "The Grand Masquerade" event held by White Wolf, the new WoD MMO was revealed to the world. It will be based on the Vampire: The Masquerade RPG setting by WW, will be developed by EVE Online dev CCP, and it might be on a single shard and include permanent death.

I, for one, am stoked. I've never played the original WW pen-and-paper RPG, but I absolutely loved Vampire: The Masquerade on the PC. The atmosphere of that game was just, awesome, and I hope that CCP can translate it into an MMO setting. What do you guys think?

This is interesting. My wife played Vampire: The Masquerade on the PC and loved it. I had a go on it myself and could see the appeal. The atmosphere especially was perfect. If they achieve the same vibe with this they could be on to a winner.

As long as it doesn't feature any sparkling poofy vampires, then i'm all for it.

I loved The Masquerade Redemption. Really captured the atmosphere. I really hope this is more of the same.

Perma-death is a bad idea. The majority of people will not keep playing, but more power to them for trying something different in an MMO. God knows it's about time.

Based on the old World of Darkness? Sweet! I mean, granted, I never really played Vampire (I was a Werewolf, Mage, and Mummy man). And the idea of full PvP is a bit of a turnoff. But still!

It's odd. I watched that video, and kept expecting the woman to say "they control us...but not for long" and busting out a Hunter edge. Wonder if they'll let us play kuei-jin at some point...

Vampires are, initially, the only playable immortals in the game. I'm getting the feeling that they will expand into other parts of the WoD mythos as well.

honestly i'd rather play as a changeling or a geist mabey a mage much more fun and originol than vampires and werewolves

If it's oWoD then this is going to be straight awesome. To all you Twlight-naysayers, WoD Vampires are the Marcus Fenix to Stephanie Meyer's Barny the Dinosaur.

If they expand into Werewolf: the Apocalypse I'd probably die from and the bodily fluids I'd loose. And it would be awesome.
