The Wrath of the Lick King Cinematic blew me away. This should be nothing short of epic. (As the intro cinematic seem to get better with each expansion)
In all fairness, if there was any studio under the Vivendi/ActiBlizz umbrella that probably has carte blanche to spend whatever it wants on a product, it's Blizzard. I imagine Bobby Kotick stopping by to chat with Mike Morhaime, all "Hey Mike, are you sure about this? It's pretty expensive to do that..." and Mike Morhaime just waves the latest subscription income numbers in front of Bobby's face.samsonguy920 said:I'm sure they are fudging the numbers before they come around Kotick's desk or he would have an aneurism of galactic and hilarious proportions(That would be worth watching on Youtube). It's been a while since I heard the last pricetag of a superbowl slot, but I'm pretty sure the regular Sunday games have reached or surpassed that by now.John Funk said:Whoo, calm down, dude. It's a TV spot, not the end of the world.ciortas1 said:If they fucking dare to put only part of the full cinematic on there, I'll have their heads. Had enough of that commercial shit with SC2.
A.) Buying a 2 minute+ ad slot is probably a bit pricey,
Considering what they pulled with the Starcraft 2 reveal at a previous BlizzCon(Like the Inquisition, nobody was expecting it. Security companies and movie studios have a lot to learn from Blizzard(Yes, I went there)), it can only be beyond Epic in comparison. And that makes me weep that I won't be there.B.) I would bet solid money that they'll be unveiling the Cataclysm opening cinematic at BlizzCon a week from today. What we're going to see at the football game is probably just a teaser. Why would they unveil the full thing for an audience who might not be interested as opposed to an audience who would almost certainly be there FOR it?
But in response to @ciortas1: Not to sound callous, but that is how the world works. Accept it, or work to change it yourself. Shouting to the heavens only gives you a sore throat. And weird looks. And a reservation for a padded cell even.
You know a 7 min CGI takes about a year for them to make. Full CGI with that kind of quality is hard and slow to make.Icehearted said:Millions in adverts and I still wouldn't go back to world of grindcraft. I'm with Eruanno, though. I wish they'd make a full featured movie with those gorgeous CGs.
...oh, sorry, that's how I imagine it.John Funk said:In all fairness, if there was any studio under the Vivendi/ActiBlizz umbrella that probably has carte blanche to spend whatever it wants on a product, it's Blizzard. Oh, I don't doubt it, but since Warcraft 3 I've been constantly impressed by their work in that department, and do not doubt that if properly motivated they could make something truly beautiful.Exort said:You know a 7 min CGI takes about a year for them to make. Hehehe. I'm sure Bobby would start drooling at those numbers and mumble something about it being alright. Subscription income numbers are ridiculously high. Why, any one of us could live comfortable off of a half of a percent of what WoW makes every month. And our children, and our grandchildren.John Funk said:In all fairness, if there was any studio under the Vivendi/ActiBlizz umbrella that probably has carte blanche to spend whatever it wants on a product, it's Blizzard. Imagine the development cycle for a CGI quality film of that calibur made by Blizzard, the universe would end before it was finished, this is the "It'll be ready when it's ready" company we're on aboutExort said:You know a 7 min CGI takes about a year for them to make. And Mike gets his weekly entertainment of watching Bobby's eyes get all round and bright, and then Bobby starts yipping like a puppy.John Funk said:In all fairness, if there was any studio under the Vivendi/ActiBlizz umbrella that probably has carte blanche to spend whatever it wants on a product, it's Blizzard. I don't like to say this, but source? If i recall that time they actually told about their CGI development schedule the timeframe included the time to create and approve concept art which is majority of time needed really.Exort said:You know a 7 min CGI takes about a year for them to make.
