Yes we've all noticed the big towering behomoth that is World of Warcraft, although, love it or hate it, there's one thing I've noticed. Lots of people who decided to play it seems to be crazy about it like a belligerant zombie, badgering their friends to play it and on occasion attempting to eat out their brains. Weirdly enough, you'd never be very much compelled to badger your friends into buying... say... Psychonauts (to name a game lots of people like). It could be argued "To play with friends online", but I never remember badgering people into buying a Game Boy Advance link cable to play Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals. This effect could, in fact, be a guise to spread the evil Warcraft, then, when they gain large enough playerbase, hypnotise the ignorant masses into zombified dictatorship, loyal only to the great Lord Ilpalazzo? Could Resident Warcraft: Blizzard Chronicals (For the Wiistation 360) occur, and take over the world?

Only time will tell...

In case of such an occurence, i have a giant spaceship the size of our planet where everyone I like will become part of a glorious empire dedicated to me. We have plenty of openings for jesters and call-girls. If interested, please call 1800...Oh, wait. That's off-topic. My bad.

There's no subliminal messaging in Wow for the same reasons there's no subliminal messaging in pure, uncut cocaine. Psychonauts is more like a beautiful painting. And I ask you now, how many people get addicted to snorting the Mona Lisa?

dude i would totally snort the mona lisa, and i don't even beleive in doing drugs. not only would it be a wild ride people would finally shut up about that incredibly average painting that has nothing cool in it, a chick with a half smile on her face sucks, add lazers and huge explosions, that would rock tits.

i will agree with the world of warcraft cult idea but it's a matter of willpower, some people are just too weak to turn the damn thing off, i lost a friend to that game, i ahvn't talked to her since she bought it like 3 years ago. my best friend plays and does try to get me into it but mostly because any game you can do with two people we usually give a try. i just can't bring myself to pay a monthly fee for a video game, screw that i want to own not rent with most things in life.

You don't pester your friends to buy Psychonauts because it wouldn't affect you in any meaningful way. You pester your friends to buy WoW so you can play with them rather than simply leaving them out completely as the rest of your group of friends grinds away.

We have a friend who has hated WoW since we all started playing it two or so years ago. Some of us had been playing since launch, but two years ago is when it got very intense. He was extremely pissed because one day he came home, said hi, sat around the house for a few hours, and eventually his two roommates turned around and said, "Oh hey, when did you get here."

Kind of a piss-poor reason to hate WoW specifically since the activity that distracted them could have been anything. But the story deepens when for some reason he starts playing the WoW card game while maintaining a seething hatred for the MMO. Within a month he finds the position impossible to sustain and he now has a level 20something warrior.

Owned.

World of Guitar Hero will be the judge of that.
And don't forget the unofficial, official expansion-mod!

World of Guitar Hero: The Hot Effect.
