World of Warcraft players seek help in their time of need.

November 13, 2014 saw the release of new World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor. It seems Blizzard was not prepared, as players new and old have returned to the game en masse and caused severe stress on the game servers. Some quests are outright not completable due to Blizzard designing quest paths that cause phasing and player bottle necks. Some regions in the game are completely unaffected but others are showing up to 60secs of lag on input.

So how have the players resolved to fix this issue? Well, by petitioning the Whitehouse, of course. A petition on Whitehouse.gov has appeared asking for Barack Obama to lend government assistance to Blizzard in this time of crisis.

Warlord's of Draenor (WoD), is the latest expansion of World of Warcraft. Millions of Americans are currently experiencing significant discomfort due to the struggles that Blizzard Entertainment is having with their servers. We humbly petition that the US government lend aid to Blizzard Entertainment so that they can adequately handle this stressful situation.
You can view the petition here [https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/fix-warlords-draenor-server-lag/jQDhZSB5] which at the time of writing already has over 2000 signatures.

Nothing really new here, just a group of people with an over inflated sense of self-worth. Like those people who call 911 when McDonalds refuses to serve chicken nuggets half an hour before lunch starts.

Ok that's a bit silly. I'm betting at least half the people just singed it for shit's and giggles. Incidentally it's also why I avoid MMO launches.

I like that one of the "issue"tags is "Human Rights"

WE HAVE THE DAMN BASIC RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF THOUGHT, FREE EXPRESSION, EDUCTATION... and playing World of Warcraft.

while i am usually fond of exaggerated political action as satire/comedy this is just boring and a waste.

People have really done that? Dear lord, that's nothing short of horrifying. Tying up emergency services lines when people could be dying.

Okay, yeah, the lag is making the game unplayable in some areas. I just came off the game just now because I'm lagging like crazy in Talador and it's making it unplayable. But this is ridiculous. They've fixed the issue with the garrisons, hopefully in a little while they'll have the lag sorted too. Kinda disappointed though, I was hoping to hit level 100 by the end of tonight.

The quality of games have taken a nose dive after companies saw that low quality still sells. It will continue to take a nose dive until gamers wake up and stop pre-ordering games based on pure hype.

I can never tell how serious people are being when they do that.

Wasn't there one of these things from people who didn't like the new Devil May Cry?

I think it's pretty evident it's a joke. While it's not impossible to think a few rubes signed it in anger, the language of it is obviously satirical.

Ironically, once the lag and server issues subsided, Warlords of Draenor is currently the finest experience I have ever had with an MMO. I've played every major MMO release in the last 15 years sans The Old Republic and not a single one of them is as contemporary or as high quality as Warlords of Draenor is proving to be.

Besides, I didn't preorder because of hype. I preordered because I wanted my free boost to level 90 and so I could play immediately at launch, for what little good that was.

Well, there's a bit more wrong with the expansion then you're letting on.
You don't need to find excuses to buy low quality products. If the product is of low quality, simply don't buy it until the product is fixed. Buying crap simply perpetuates more crap. That is what this industry is suffering of right now.

The reason I linked this and not the other one is because I find the statistic at the bottom interesting. 50% of the 911 calls in Florida are for non-emergency situations. I wonder what that number is in other states.

That the sad part is that we've come to a point where we don't know if things like this are a joke or not anymore. Like that anti-masturbation gum, for example. It SEEMS reasonable to assume it's a joke, but part of you can't deny that some people would actually do that...

This is incorrect, Blizzard was prepared, the players was not.
If people had any understanding of how this whole release worked, and how many people involved they would understand why it crashes like this ON EVERY SINGLE RELEASE.

It is also worth mentioning that they were supposedly also under a DDoS attack at the same time, which did not exactly help.

As someone poseted on Wowhead about this, it makes no sense for blizzard to add harware orwhatnot to handle the 2-3 day burst of people at the same spot, when that is wasted space that will never be used again.

So players should know this is how it works by now and be prepared for it. I know I was and now I am not mad.

It is currently 7:44pm GMT, and there is currently a queue of 4700 people with a predicted wait time of around 150 minutes. Is it a problem? Yes. Should the US government spend resources to aid Blizzard? What, really? Are you serious?

The game has had a horrible launch, and dreadful lag issues with it, but that is one hell of a way to blow the severity of the issue out of proportion. In a couple of days the population will go down again, and the game will be back to normal. Sure, login queues are irritating, but there is no sense in investing $1000 into hardware that will be redundant again in a week. All will be fine.

A woman I work with knows a guy who has the job of sorting through petitions made to our government, a vast majority of them coming from complete loonies.

It sounds like the best job ever.

There was actually a pretty popular one to have "My Lovely Horse" from Father Ted sent in as the legitimate Irish Eurovision entry.
