I used to play WOW back when the expansion wrath of the lich king came out and basically I had 5 level 80's and I wasnt having fun anymore with the game, I didnt feel like waiting till cataclysm came out so I just quit. So now im kinda missing it and I was just wondering, would it be worth rejoining for me?
I've heard a lot of things about it but I just want to get some facts about WOW as it is right now, some questions like...
Is it more/less fun or about the same?
Hows the community?
Any new features?
Worgen or Goblin?

Don't bother really i only started at the end of wrath but listening to my brother about the old days it was a lot better, now there kind of catering to the casuals and throwing in filler content patches and not caring about pvp etc etc

I played Cataclysm for a while and then quit, played a little during the 'free week' with the update but even still I see what you mean. The faint desire / nostalgia to play is there, but don't be fooled.

WoW is still WoW. It hasn't changed drastically enough that you will enjoy it much if you grew tired of it before. It might be enough that newer players find it easier, but veterans won't find enough to renew their interest if it wasn't held in the first place.

I can't really speak for the community, I found it generally disagreeable enough to not get involved in the first place and never did.

The new 'features' that came out in Cata were mostly convenience features. The dungeon finder IS nice and it's been getting even better but once you are in the dungeon they are basically the same. Early level quest design is better than before, the leveling up process is a lot faster and less boring. Similiar feeling end game.

Goblin. Goblins are fascinating enough on their own merits, but Blizzard DESTROYED Worgen lore in Cataclysm. In a single feel swoop all potential for interesting stories was basically cast away, and it felt really lazy. It felt like it was forced into established lore, not that it fit.
Post Cata, Worgen are cursed Druids. That's it.

I returned to wow several months ago after a 3 year break (hadnt played since Burning crusade was new). I leveled from 1 to 85 on a troll mage and started the raiding scene as quickly as I could. Honestly, the game was to easy for me. It didnt feel like raiding anymore, not like the old days of WoW and certainly not raiding like in the old days of EQ. Events are so scripted that theres rarely more then one way to fight a boss and IMO its just not a good game for end game content anymore

Granted I didnt play through wrath so I dont know what it was like then but if you want challenging raiding content and PVP then I would suggest you look elsewhere. It really depends on what you like in an MMO though

WoW is WoW, as ever, still the most engaging MMO out there, in my opinion and by making use of sheer numbers and longevity. I'm not a huge fan of the current conflict, but, we can only do battle with the scourge for so long. They initially released a set of rather difficult raids in response to the out pour of vitriol from the community for making Ice Crown Citadel as easy as it was. This, naturally, led to a decrease in PuG raids and, as such, vitriol came until nerfs were applied, resulting in even more vitriol.

They added a continent worth of new zones, a couple re-tools of low level dungeons and new heroics, initially, followed up with a new PvP objective/zone(Tol Barad), which proved to be less fun than Wintergrasp, but, hey, no tenacity! Recently, they've added a daily zone known as the Molten front alongside releasing a new raid to finally quench the rage of Ragnaros. As well, they turned ZG and ZA into heroic dungeons, to allow those who hadn't the chance to run ZA as a raid the ability to experience it. With the upcoming patch, they'll be adding transmogrification ,which allows you to use different models for your current gear. There are some restrictions, but, it's a nod in the direction of the RPers.

I prefer the Goblins. Something about the Worgen models doesn't sit right with me.

been playing since BC, got 5 85's. Wouldn't bother resubbing unless you really enjoy northrend. The end-game content gets dry so quickly you wouldn't believe it, Arena has been shockingly bad since day 1.
The new zones are nice, but that's roughly the only upside. But if you enjoy northrend, you'll still dig the expac.

edit: goblin, far better casting animations

Basically the old days of WoW were the best. As the expansion packs came out the game gradually got worse. Vanilla was the best irrefutably. The game has just taken a turn for the worst and I would definitely not get back into it.

I've been curious from time to time and have considered starting my account up again, but never did it. I played WoW for about a year before any of the expansions came out, and from what I've heard I played during the best time. I was fortunate to be in a guild comprised largely by people I knew in real life, so the social aspect of the game was a lot of fun. But holy time consumption batman... And I just don't have the time or want to really learn everything that has probably added since that time and get back into it... If I ever really get the urge to start an MMO up again, I think it will be something different than WoW.

P.S. I do still fondly remember playing as a Hunter, being followed around by a gorilla and a blunderbuss. :)

I only started playing last November and I got to level 85 in about two months. People tell me it's easier now which I'm not sure is a bad thing because, while it does somewhat cheapen reaching max level for those who have been playing for longer, it also means that people like me don't quit at level 30 after getting tired of spending 3 months killing insects.

The game was more fun in Wrath.
The community is worse but you get rewarded for only playing with your guild so you don't really have to interact with it.
Plenty of new features.
Both suck. Play a vanilla race.

Community is as laughable as always.
New features: None worth mentioning.
Worgen goblin: MEH. Cool the first five minutes, then its just another race.
Less fun than before.
TBC was the best expansion imo even if Lich king featured the best instance (Ulduar). Cataclysm was a cool leveling experience, but ultimately its just more of the same. A lot more of the same. :\

I quit after TBC came out, so I was a Vanilla vet. I decided to get back into the game in Cata. I played for a few months, level an 85, did alright, but I wasn't interested in raiding. I tried to get big into PvP, but so few people get involved in PvP it was difficult to find a team.

I got the best gear I could by myself, then gave up...I level another toon to like 79, got bored again, and quit again.

By all means, feed your WoW bug, just don't expect the game will ever capture you again like it once did, because it likely won't.

Also, its fairly boring at level cap unless you want to raid for top gear, that'll be replaced in the next expansion.

Besides redoing all the talent trees, it's the same aka boring.

The community is dire. It has become far worse as it is filled with kids who won't take advice and are stuck up self entitled pricks who are happy to screw everyone over in PVP or raids.
The speed leveling has not helped this problem. Many people are now 85 with one or more character and still don;t know what the auction house is.

No new features. Same old.

Don't go back. BC was best, has been downhill from there...

Cata startd out OK, but I quit not long after it came out. Dunno what its like now. Probably as full of trolls and idiots and elitists as ever though.

I know What you mean. You make friends with your guild and want to stay with them. But it is so Drab these days. Grinding is utterly all there is. And Heroics are not even challenging anymore. It just isnt fun anymore. Half my play time was trying to get my stats perfect.
