So, I'm debating canceling my WoW account for now. Need to save every penny that I can. Problem is, I love my online games. Was thinking about going back to Guild Wars. Anyone have any other suggestions? Should I keep my WoW account?

Also, just to clarify, by suggestions I meant are there any other MMO's out there that are any good? Free or buy it/play it/ no monthly fees? I've tried City of Heros/Villains, and it just wasn't my thing.

I am just saying if Guild Wars 2 is a WoW clone i will be pissed. I suggest Warcraft Frozen Throne, that game never gets old and one time pay. (At least I like it)

i would say diablo 2, it's a good game, cheap to get, free to play, still a large online community, limitless replayability, buts its really not an mmo, so i dont know if thats what ur looking for

DDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online) is decent. Weird not being able to control camera with mouse though. Although, imo WoW>GW. Although. MMO just aren't my thing. But a free MMO is free for a reason. WoW costs fifteen dollars a month for a reason.

I just looked up DDO, and I'm thinking about giving it a try. lol.

Yeah, I'm having high hopes for Guild Wars 2 as well. I have the original and Nightfall. I hear the release dates gonna be around 2011 though. :-/

I played Diablo 2 a while back, but at the moment I'm looking for something that's just straight-up MMO

Then you're probably going to be pissed.

Guild Wars vs. World of Warcraft [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcWXL8jpFGs], huh?

GW is by far the better game if you ask me. It's only as grindtacular as you WANT it to be and it still has by far the best skill system out there.

Guild wars is great, its the one game i still play on my pc (however I recently did come into the posession of Severance and Far cry 1, by which I mean nicked from dads house in his 5 years since last opened cabinet of old PC games)

anyway yeah guild wars is a great game to have, and i am getting really amped up for guild wars 2, maybe it will make PC gaming entertaining for me again!

Welcome to the escapists, just to warn you, vs threads are frowned upon here as flamewars tend to happen.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.112832 this is useful.
OT: imo oblivion kicks both guild wars and WoW ass.

tbh i think that you should continue with you GW. seing as you already have it and well you dont have to pay. in addition GW2 is coming out soon and it has been anounced that you achievements in GW will unlock special items in GW2.

just seems like the best option to me

The title of this thread is a lot more flame-baity than the actual post itself is I gotta say

If you wanna go back to guild wars for a bit feel free, after all, no sub fee right?

Unfortunately my guild wars stopped working, it began randomly opening windows media centre one day and I could never play it since.

Yeah, I came in armed with a Melta and some spare cans of purifying Promethium, but it turned out to be pretty harmless.

I've dropped out of the MMO scene for now. Most of the big ones out there are just more of the same WoW style shit. It couldn't hurt to go back to Guild Wars if you were thinking about it though, it is free after all. If you like it yay, if you don't, then all you lost was time. Personally, I'm waiting to see what happens with Jumpgate Evolution, Black Prophecy, and Star Trek: Online (can you tell I quit Eve a few months ago?).

Well, I bought GW the day it got out, and it was super awsome. There weren't that many people and nobody really knew wth they were doing, wich was fun. I could sell some weps from Kryta to people in Ascalon and make a living out of it. But now everybody already played the game, know where to get stuff and always want golden super rare items. The magic is just gone, so if I were you, I'd save my money and buy Guild Wars 2 the day it comes out, that way you still have time before everybody finishes it.

It won't be a WoW clone. It's still going to be deeply rooted into a "Magic: The Gathering" style of gameplay. At least that's what the Devs say.
