I always thought that the 14-day free trial should have you start out as like level 68, or something high, so you can really experience some of the balls out incredible things they have in World of Warcraft.

The raids and instances blew me away when I first tried them.
Except if you started out at such high level for the first time, you'd have absolutely no clue what you were doing. You don't teach an uninitiated person about nuclear physics and computer science by dropping them at the Large Hadron Collider in front of a computer and say "here, use this. Have fun."

It's a very user-friendly MMO. Character creation and building is complex enough to be interesting, but easy enough to figure out. The game has plenty of content appealing to every gamer's personal level of seriousness (both in available playtime and tolerance for complicated tactical play). The game runs on lower-end computers. The graphics are decent. The community is huge, so the potential as a social platform is enormous.

No, the question was why people play it when i found it to be a bad game and gave good reasons for that
And, if you'll notice, I gave equally good (possibly better) reasons that people find it to be a good game.
Did you just mis quote me?
I don't think so. I quoted only the part that I was responding to (your clarification of the question), and left in the part of my original post where I felt I had already answered that question, as well. That's what the snip is there for.

Blizzard has found a way to program stuff into their games that makes your screen emmit addictive particles.
They did it with Diablo 2 as well.

I didn't read 90% of the replies to this post because I got lazy, but I will explain why I enjoy WoW, and why I think many others do.

It's mindless entertainment. There's no thinking involved. Many times, people come home from work, or school, and just don't want to do anything, but they have another four or five hours before they really have to go to bed and start the next, monotonous day of their life. And there's really just nothing else to do. So they sit down, and zone out while playing WoW. A game where you don't have to think, and you can just go kill things if you want.

Don't get me wrong though, there are many not-so-mindless aspects of WoW, and I am not dogging on the game at all, but I think that most of the time, people just want to zone out and not do anything. WoW provides this type of entertainment.

Not to mention, they do major advertising, and word of mouth travels fast when you have X million players. Hench why people choose WoW over other similar games. I doubt that there are many people (at least in the U.S.) who've never at least heard of WoW.

I played wow for several years, and after leveling a few characters high, and making a lot of lowies i just realised that it sucked in my opinion. once you started playing pvp you really notice how bad people are, i got taunted by people for trying to protect battlefield objectives instead of going off and fighting mindlessly, which is what was the nail in the coffin for me, none of my friends play it any more, because there are maybe enough intelligent people on each server to fill a raid group at max level, if your really lucky.
the reason a lot of people play it in my opinion is that there, either the small group of people who are actually nice friendly intelligent people who hang out with other people like them and don't get the constant abuse from everyone else, or there everyone else. i loved wow before it got really big, but then the grinding got boring, the gear and classes all looked the same, and as more and more people showed up more and more of the nice folk just left for other mmos. which is what i find weird, pne of my firends still has an active account because he has two eighties with good gear and he might sell 'em, but he hates playing as well now, and he thought it was gods gift to gamers up till a few weeks ago, when he got reported for trolling because he killed some guy who just respawned right beside him while he was gold farming.
however though it make other mmos more fun, as they have very small populations of trollers and other people like that, WAR for example has many better pvp and quest features than WoW but people won't play it because they can't get to level twenty with a few hours of work, so obviously it's not worth it.
generally though most of the people who like wow, are jsut not fun people to play with unless your like them, which makes appealing to, well people like them, ioh and the fourteen day trial should drop you at sixty, no one would notice you being unable to play, you'd be like the vast majority of people, also not all fourteen year olds can't play the game, just most of them, thats like saying all thirty year olds can play well and be mature about the game

in my opinion i think people play it because they can put on a facade on there that they could not do in real life, on there you can be pretty much anything your heart desires
