i think world of warcraft is monotonous, all you do is kill something and someone gives you money. i played for about a month and decided it wasnt worth 15 bucks a month. your opinion?

Yeah i played for about 49 levels on a character until i realized how boring the game is. I stopped and so far have never played since. Except my brother still does nothing but sit there, along with some friends. In fact, i can't even call some of them very often, or i'll get the response "NOT NOW, I'M RAIDING!!" Overall i'm against it. Haha one of my friends said that i gain a lot of "lady-points" just for not playing the game.

Also, i heard that Blizzard is planning on bumping it up to 18 dollars a month.

The game is more about the social aspect than the actual game to a lot of people. I've found myself bored with the game many times over the years, yet I sometimes still can't leave the game due to the friends I've made.

I played for 2 months as it was a gift from a friend who was really into it at the time and wanted me to play. I got pretty addicted but as soon as my time was up I really didn't want to pay more to keep playing to I just stopped. A waste of money indeed.

I've never played it but I have a resolution never to play it since I hear it's addicting and I know a bunch of people addicted to it. I barely have a life as it is now and I don't want to lose it.

I played since the beginning of WoW until arena season 2. I held 1st place in Stormscale for two weeks in 2v2 and 5v5.

I'd play it again if I weren't in college.

I kill things for money and materials, get someone to pay me for it, use the money and materials to make things, and go out into the game world to explore. It's easily worth 15$ a month to me.

I usually play it for a few months at a time, and when it starts to get boring (or cutting into school) I stop for another few months and go back either to it or City of Heroes. I'd be playing right now if I had a working external hard drive or some way of deleting 12 gigs of stuff off my laptop without my packrat tendency kicking in.

And this, my friends, is what I call rude and offensive.

Why can't you accept that some people have hobbies outside of video games while other people have video games as their hobby. No, I am not saying that you are wrong in not liking the game, I am saying that it offends me that you think, because I play WoW, I have no life. I have plenty of a life. I enjoy the company of my friends. Too bad they all live in Ohio while I go to school in New York. WoW connects me to these, and many other friends that I have met. And hey! What do you know! I get to play a game I enjoy while doing it.

Just because I spend my time playing a game that you don't like doesn't mean I have no life.

I am severely offended as this is the twentieth thread of its kind in the past month with everything (yes, including most of this rant) being a mere copy/paste of the others.

Between my hatred of RPGs, my hatred of grind quests, my hatred of monthly fees, and my hatred of People, WoW is probably the game that's worst suited for me

Horrible game. It's decent as far as MMORPGs go, but since I've never encountered a good MMO (any kind, not just MMORPGS), that doesn't really mean much. For some reason, it seems that developers think that, when making an MMO, you should encourage people to play the game with rewards like levelling up or getting good loot rather than making them play the game by making it fun.

And you're meant to pay money to play that even though you've already bought it. What do people do for long hours for years on end that's really boring but gives you a reward? Work. But you make it a game and suddenly people jump at the idea and will even pay money for the privilege of working.

This is the first time I ever seen this sentiment discussed.

I am amazed that no one has brought this up sooner.
Bravo to you, good sir! Thank you for your enlightening opinion.

I enjoy the game and played it for a month however once the time was up i just couldn't bare handing over another $15 I would consider playing it again if only for the social aspect of it all.

Dude this is like the 3rd thread i've seen from you. Slow down there buddy.

And yes your wonderfully well written statement of how bad wow is has changed my view completely I can't believe I never realized there was a grind to it, o thank you so much for showing me the error of my ways.

It's fun it's only monotonous if you want it to be. You can PVP you can sell stuff and play havok with the economy, you can goof off with strangers, you can raid or quest to your hearts content. You can explore the world, grief people, collect things, create challenges for yourself etc. Of course if you play it like kill x get loot you will be bored.
