FPS? Blizzard? Oh, YEAH!

I'm a big fan of FPS's, and I love Blizzard, so this is a formula of win.

You honestly think blizzard would do anything new for MMOs? WoW is just more of the same. Every expansion is MORE OF THE SAME. New quests, new raids all of it is just MORE OF THE SAME. Boring, dull sameness. There's nothing new about it. And it works. I doubt Blizzard would get off their cashcow.
*Gasp*
Their expansions...expand on existing mechanics?

OT: Sounds interesting. I'm not into FPSs all that much, so I'll probably stick with WoW
They don't. They just copy and paste.
No they don't. Compare the Ulduar raid instance with Molten Core. Compare the questing in Azeroth to Northrend. The same my ass.

I hope you didn't expect the expansion packs to completely change the game into something else. No expansion pack of any game from any developer whatsoever does that.

As for you saying that an MMOFPS wouldn't work, have you ever heard of Planetside? No? Dig into it.

I'm an RPG fan, so for me it's all about stats and builds and such. The idea of some kind of massive deathmatch shooter with social elements just doesn't appeal to me, but I can understand why the twitch crowd would appreciate it. It's just not my cup of tea. I also think when a lot of the current kids grow up and their twitchy little fingers slow down, they will appreciate less action oriented games more, and realize that there are other kinds of "skills" to gaming that they hadn't appreciated fully before.

That said, I am interested in pretty much anything Blizzard comes out with. I'd even attempt a game like described because of the company, but I probably wouldn't stick with it. I know from the action games I play and enjoy, that I'm just not that good at them where I could do them competitively.

The problem with removing grind from games is that without it, you need to have tons of unique content, enough to keep players who can move at a very quick pace going for a year or more while you whip out an expansion. Grind exists for a reason, and honestly even if the game was totally "twitch based" if it had PVE aspects as opposed to being a MAG like super sized shooter arena, chances are you WOULD have to kill tons of things again and again to earn money and/or resources even if there were no stats.

Well if it was made well and didn't have the 80 levels of grinding to get to the good stuff, then it probably would be the first good MMO.

Every time a new MMO comes out they say "IT'S NOT ABOUT GRINDING, IT'S ABOUT SKILL" and it's always about grinding and slamming your face on your keyboard like a retarded seal.
I think an MMO FPS sounds stupid. Then again I also think the only good MMO to ever exist was PSO before it turned into a hackfest.
Well, to be honest there is some truth to the claims of many games not being about grinding but about skill. Simply put you can't get into the upper echelons of most games through grind alone, the real rewards come from raiding and doing boss fights and such, and while those do not require "twitch" reflexs (well not in most cases) they do involve a lot of practice, timing, and strategy as well as being able ti min/max gear and stats the right way. I suppose not everyone agrees with me on this, but I do think it requires a certain skillset.

Compare this to say some of the Korean MMOs where there isn't really much in the way of raid content, and it's entirely based on grind, with a gimmick to get people to spend money on things like exps potions/scrolls so they can grind faster.

That said, I do not think a game about "Skill" (in the RPG context) is really all that special to be frank. That's most of the big MMORPGs if you want to get to the highest echelons of success. Someone has to do better than to drop that claim to get my attention. :)

Cant be worse than border lands .. may even feature "gasp" an intuitive inventory system ... we can hope, I would like to see a starcraft based MO myself, ships instead of flying mounts Rangers instead of survival hunters ... on second thoughts it would just be WoW with a new skin.

Well, if someone would succeed setting a new norm for MMOs, I think it would be Blizzard.

And I'd be interested in something new made by Blizzard.

They already have their cash cow so why not go off and do something crazy, I'm sure all the employees get lobster for lunch everyday and the toilets in the office are made of solid platinum so they can afford to go crazy and try something new

With the direction WoW started heading since the last days of vanilla/first of TBC i doubt i would be all that in awe. They would have to first thing proove me they can do something new, something that is not continuing the old scheme im tired of.

I dont mind grind, i dont mind farming, i dont mind dying endlessly in overly long raids. What i do mind is streamlining the game.

As for MO shooters, there is already plenty of those sprouting out and dying. Most recent i think GLobal Agenda which is TF in more high-sci fi setting mixed with some MMO features and territory control option.

More interested in TERA, since its supposed to be brawler/mmo mix.
