Awesome can't wait to see it.
And being released on the day the world is supposed to end makes it all the more of a reason to see it.

So, am I the only one that noticed that the release date is what the Mayan Calender will end its most recent b'ak'tun (aka, the misinterpretation of it being the end of the world)?

In all seriousness, and i'm not attacking you here. I think you're the only one who cares. Superstition and Mythology have no relevance in the modern world.
Hear hear. In other news, the great Juju from atop the mountain has a thing about tuesdays...

I just fell out of my chair laughing. Thanks a lot. =D

I'm looking forward to it...cautiously. It could be great. I just hope this doesn't give those people who say "why read the book when you could just wait for the movie?" more ideas. Grrr.

Uhg -.- I was REALLY excited until I read the description on the site. I don't wanta be that girl buuut. They butchered it. They totally could have done, interviews and flashbacks, or make it documentary style but NO. It's Brad Pitt on the run for zombies... *sigh* So much potential, wasted. I just pray they get the zombies right at least. Or I'll probably curl up into a little ball and weep for a while, clutching my dog-eared copy of World War Z in my arms.

Holy sh-t, this has the potential to be amazing. My fingers are very crossed indeed. It almost makes up for the cancellation of At The Mountains of Madness.

Yeah, wasn't that booked based on after action reports by various people after the zombies lost or something like that? It would have to have a severe change to make a good movie.
I think it could work if they did it in a sort of documentary-style. Interviews with survivors, etc.

This is exactly how the book was written. Interviews.
You could have a short segment of the protagonist narrating the meeting, and then have it fade into the memories of the other survivor.
I WANT to see the house of celebrities bit and also the bit where families travelled up north and then became cannibles. There are so many delicious things in that book that can get spoiled, so for the love of Xenu, Zeus of Thor, PLEASE do NOT screw it up!

They can pull it off if it's flashbacks stringed by narration and Pitt's character moving around.

I was hoping they'd do it as a series of interviews and flashbacks. I couldn't see any other way it would make sense in a film. Have Brad Pitt's character as a journalist or historian or something.
That's kind of why I didn't like the book when I picked it up. It's such a passive piece of work and I think war books should be active.
It's not a war-book. It's a recollection of memories from the survivors, here to bring the human side of the story while the cold hard facts go to the UN report. It's here to remind us what people are capable of, good or bad, and that there were real people back then - for the generations to come.
.
.
I just read the description. LIBERTY WITH THE SCRIPT?
MAX BROOKES, GROW SOME BALLS AND SAY NO TO HOLLYWOOD BUTCHERING YOUR FICTION!
I just KNOW that they won't even TOUCH the south african storyline now, damn you all. They'll keep all of the american stories, and thats it.
I hate you.
I've waited patiently for you to find the appropriate studio and producer - but this?
I'd rather have the book remain a book.
.
.
Read more of the script. They're going to replace the Mossad agent and his CIA counterpart, the entire ISRAEL plot and replace it with an american soldier?
wtf?
..
Do you recognize some of the scenes from the book in the pictures?

Oh no, you misunderstand my post. I'm not superstitious about it all, I was merely pointing out that fact. That's why I put the mythos in brackets while pointing out the real meaning of it outside of said brackets.
The B'ak'tun is just the end of the cycle of that calender. It's much like the end of an age, like the Stone or Bronze Ages. It has no significant meaning, just the last point of that specific measure of time.
