worse story of the year so far?

I think this is pretty self explanatory. Which game do you think had the worse story ?

My nomiantion goes to unreal tournament 3. theres alot to admire about epic games but there stroy telling skills arent among them. next time u make a game hire a writer.the story was so bad i mean i know this isnt a franchise thats built on its storytelling but come on i worte better fiction as a child.

Personally I'd exempt FPS games from consideration because they need just enough plot to justify the shooting. Otherwise team fortress would win.

I'm torn between Army of Two, Ninja Gaiden 2, and Alone in the Dark.... hm...

I'll go with Ninja Gaiden 2. Terrible story from start to finish.

Soul Calibur 4 wins it for me. Of course it doesn't detract from the game because after all it's just a fighting game but still so laughably bad it deserves mentioning.

Not that it was a bad game, but it only seemed to try and justify the brawl-ing

Have you noticed how at the end of all the storylines, it seems like everything ends with a comma? Case in point, your example : "and then Ivy found five dollars," . So now you're sitting, yelling at the screen because you have no idea what she did with said five dollars. Do you find that out in SC5 : The Legend of the Mammaries? Or is there a side-story telling you that she ended up going out, buying ice cream, and then some 3 year old kid stole it from her?

I agree with Alone in the Dark-

I think the execution was worse than the story though, spesh on the wii version (admittedly i was VERY VERY VERY wrong and thich to buy it) where every character had such terrible facial animation to the point at which they could plausibly have botox leaking from their eye sockets.

I think the best story I've seen in a while has to be Kane and Lynch, as mediocre as the game was, that's a pretty awesome ending, if you choose to go and save your men, kane's daughter dies, but if you choose to escape by helicopter, she hates him forever.
and he leaves lynch behind.
It was disappointing that the whole idea of Lynch being schizophrenic sorta slipped away after the first few levels.
