So my friend and I are putting together a web site with some animated reviews of films and we focus primarily on adaptations, sequels, remakes and rip-offs. We're beginning to run out of films we know of and were hoping we could get some lists from anybody? Like have you seen a film based on a book or comic you love then see it trashed, seen a rip-off of an actual good film or found a sequel that just ruined the franchise? (We've done all the sequels to Don Bluth's )

Starship Troopers.

If you haven't already - never read the book. You will forever lust for the blood of the director/producer/screenwriter.
I have seen bits of that and really want to read the book. One of us in the review has to have seen/read the source material to make this funnier.

The 80s adaptation of Dune with sting was pretty bad. Even after reading the book I had no idea what was going on.

Edit: Yeah, I might have to agree with the Starship Troopers comment above.

Fucking He-Man was the first I ever encountered as a child in the 80s.

I didn't bother seeing Avatar but I've heard that's up there, maybe worse.

DOOM was pretty amazingly bad, even for a game adaptation (space zombies? No demons? HOW HARD IS IT TO SCREW THIS SHIT UP).

Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead are AMAZINGLY bad.

I kinda consider the game Metroid: Other M to be an adaptation (of the real Metroid games) and it is utter shit.

Conan the Destroyer was a terrible sequel, as were the two Matrix sequels, as well as countless others.

I hate almost all remakes so... yeah. Except for... uh... something, I'm sure.

I've been wanting to do House of the Dead but even when gore is offensively fake I tend to be squeamish |D I know that's a pansy sign in this day and age but it can't be worse than Braindead or Kill Bill right?

Eragon ripped off Star Wars. Not in a "the Doom movie was Resident Evil in space" way, but in a truly shameless, scene for scene way.

It starts with a princess being pursued by an evil empire's forces. Before being cpatured, she sends away something of extreme value. It's found by a farmboy who lives with his uncle. He's not sure if he should get involved. After the empire come looking for it and kill his uncle, he decides to go off with this wise old mentor, who used to fight the empire but put that on hold after they lost the war. They meet an untrustworthy scoundrel they are forced to deal with. They find out the princess is being held captive at the empire fortress and go resuce her, but the mentor is killed...and so on

I think House of the Dead was pretty gory, cause it's zombies and you can show whatever violence you want to against them (ZOMBIE ACTIVISTS UNITE! not really...). However, the movie is so retarded and terrible that I doubt you'll be able to imagine it's real in anyway, it's so laughably poorly done. But if you're super squeamish I guess I would steer clear. Or just watch a review of it that ridicules it.

I've read the book 3 times and still reading it, however it is quite confusing for me. And by confusing, deep! Probably because I'm young >.>

Oh and Starship Troopers is a good movie if seen from a perspective of "It wasn't based on the book, it wasn't based on the book!" I still long for a faithful adaptation of the book...

That's almost how I viewed Scott Pilgrim Vs. the world, but I saw it before reading the comic. Short version was I loved both and can easily say Scott Pilgrim is probably the best comic adaptation to date.

If you say so, I thought it was appalling.

Though, apparently what happened was that they realised it looked a bit Starship Troopers partway through making the movie, so had to go get the rights and then make a Starship Troopers after they'd started making it as some other movie altogether. Not quite the same thing that happened with Catwoman (they weren't able to make a superhero/ine movie that year, so a movie being created was made into one at the last minute), but close.

No I'm pretty sure they decided to make it based on the book however it 'bored and depressed' Paul[sub]brilliant director[/sub] so they basically took a huge shit on the book and made something completely different but nevertheless still awesome.

It's like the new Ultramarines film, it works more like a novel[sub]yes Dan Abnett I know[/sub] and a thriller. Terrible to show what Warhammer 40,000 is like if you're new to it[sub]one could argue that nearly all Space Marine stories work like the plot in the movie[/sub] however from the perspective of thriller it works quite well.

Well, anything by Uwe Boll counts, he's a terrible film maker.

Tron Legacy was a bad sequel to a bad movie. Could have done without that too.
