Worst and best developers?

Who (In your own opinion) is the best and the worst game developers?
For me:
Best (This was a bit of a 3 way tie):
Team ICO (ICO and SotC were gold, BUT The Last Guardian looks like it might kick Team ICO off my favorites. In short: High expectations for it.)
Valve (They are masters at making games that stick out and go against most games but they need to work on release times)
Gearbox (They rescued Duke Nukem from 3D Realms so now it might have a chance of coming out. This is points in my book.)
Worst:
Sega (Seriously they just need to stop)

Give it a little over a month and we'll know. In the meantime - and I am ready for a slating on this - I like IW.

On a less contreversial note, good call on the Team ICO. I also love my Civ, so Firaxis are high on my list at the moment.

On the bad side, not a fan of Treyarch but Black Ops is a world better than World at War, so knowing they had to improve is a positive sign. I can't stand the mentality of Activision and EA. Hearing you on the Sega front and would like to chuck Nintendo in for the same reasons. Oh and Capcom need to grow up. Just everything they do seems to still be for the PS1.

I'd agree with IW too, but having only owned the MWs, my favourite developer has to be Oddworld Inhabitants. Abe's Oddysee, Abe's Exoddus, Munches Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath. Four awesome games. Perhaps Munches Oddysee isn't as good as previous titles, but it's still a good game. Was so happy to hear they were making a return, and then slightly disapointed it looked like they'd be doing PS3 exclusives.

On the worst side I don't know. I only get a game if I'm confident of enjoying it, so I havn't had too much experience with bad games. I'm tempted to say DICE though. Battlefield 2 has one of the best multiplayer I've played, but it's campaign is woeful. I would have been happier if the game was multiplayer only.

I dont really know much about developers, the only ones I know of with an ideantity are Vavle and Bioware

there have been great devs in the past, like lucas arts (im sure they were good at some point) and the quirky british dev Bullfrog, shame really

I dont pay too much attention to Devs unless its bioware or Valve

For me, I personally like Valve, BioWare and Obsidian. Dice is pretty cool.

Honestly, I don't hate too many devs, but I haven't played a Bethesda game that I've liked though.

Best CD Projekt RED are at the moment at the top of my list since they stand for DRM-free computer games. I love those guys.

Worst BioWare they make good games, state mild DRM and then give way intrusive DRM without telling you, that is one hell of a dick move on their part.

One person is simultaneously the best and the worst. Brian Reynolds. He made Alpha Centauri, the best game ever released for the PC. He also made FrontierVille.

How both those games could be made by the same person is beyond me. Going from something as brilliantly esoteric as Alpha Centauri to, well, FrontierVille, makes me think maybe severe head trauma was involved. Or maybe he came face to face with some mind worms. I'm going with the latter.

Obsidian would probably be the best if their games actually worked properly. And when it comes to post-Black Isle studios that made brilliant yet nightmarishly buggy games, Troika is much worse.

Obsidian would probably be the best if their games actually worked properly. And when it comes to post-Black Isle studios that made brilliant yet nightmarishly buggy games, Troika is much worse.

Yeah, Knights of the Old Republic 2 was an amazing game, cept for the fact that it was insanely buggy (with the Restoration patch it fixed some of the bugs but that's no excuse). Seriously, they need to fix this crap.

Edit: In my opinion, New Vegas was much better than Fallout 3. They fixed pretty much everything I hated about 3, and it felt like it was more like the originals.

It was more like the originals because it was made by the two people who made the first two.

KOTOR 2 wasnt really Obsideans fault they had to meet a deadline forced on em so the game would hit stores when it did it wouldnt have been so bad if they had been given more time
