The "music" is just annoying and doesn't seem fit with the mood of the anime at all, and the scenes shown in the intro have almost nothing to do with what happens in the show either. I haven't watched too many animes so I'm not an expert or anything, but as soon as I read the title of the thread this is what jumped to mind.
The moment the intro switched to this was the moment I started skipping it. I saw no need to subject myself to having a really loud and annoying man scream down my ear-hole every time I wanted to watch an episode.
For the last chunk of the pre-timeskip episodes, it's somewhat out of place... But following it?
The OP quite clearly suits the tone of the show once it has occurred. Light descends into a madness that he's completely and totally right in doing what he's doing. He's kicked his sense of 'morality' to the curb and become completely obsessed with the concept of him being a 'god' of the world.
In a sense, the OP, for me at least, was a musical representation of Light's mind following his defeat of L.
And it has a fucking great beat to it.
So try and think of it that way and to some degree, it suits the show, again, post timeskip point in the plot.
Incoming personal most despised OP's:
Honestly, most of Ali Projects are mediocre and despisable...
...But the just fucking bring home the fact that ALL THEIR FUCKING SONGS SOUND THE SAME with KTG's second OP.
If I think of any others, I might comment.
Also, HATERS GONNA HATE on Macademi Wasshoi. Yeah, it's nothing revolutionary but god damn it do I fucking 'love' BLADE's art style. That alone is enough for me.
EDIT: HOLY SHIT, TOTALLY FORGOT. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PICK UP KATANAGATARI SHOULD GO PRE-ORDER THE DVD/BLURAY BOXSET COMBO FROM NIS AMERICA. IT'S 70 BUCKS FOR EPISODES 1-7 IIRC. GO FUCKING ORDER IT NOW BITCHES. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
