Azumanga Daioh and Moon Phase have great OPs, what are you talking about.

And this one of the worst things ever created by mankind. Bonus points for having awful subtitles too (seems appropriate, doesn't it?).

Not as bad as some of the others, But I really don't like the twelfth opening to One Piece.

I mean, the arc this ran during is friggin impel down, one of the darker arcs of the show. and it's unbearably light and poppy, even in contrast to other OP openings. And this is right off the heels of the excellent (A bit engrish-loaded) eleventh opening.
Funny, I actually enjoyed this opening quite a lot. Where it may not be as suitable as you would have liked One Piece is known for its overly positive openings. That is until the 13th.

This. Truly awful choice of music; it doesn't fit the mood of Death Note at all. And it barely feels like I can call that a matter of opinion.

I don't know if the english dub openings count as well, but if they do I'll say One Piece a thousand times.
GAH! IT BURNS! TAKE IT AWAY! TAKE IT AWAY!

I don't care how bad other ones get, or if it doesn't count in this thread, THIS is the worst anime opening ever.

My friend always told me that 'Love Slave', the opening theme to DearS, was genuinely creepy and disturbing. Having looked it up and watched it, I have to say... he was 100% correct.

All you need to know is that the main lyric of the chorus is "I'm your slave".

Yes, and I love the super positive openings before and after this one. The fifth being my personal favorite song from the series. But this feels less like the others and more like a shojo opening. . Guess it could be a balancing act for the separated crew and incoming shitstorm, but meh.

As said, not a horrible opening. I just find it a really weird choice.

A potentially flamebait one, but Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex. Don't get me wrong, the music is god-tier. But GITS' stunning 2-d animation, and they use some cheezy 3-D with loads of lighting effects? Come on.

Second gig's opening more then makes up for it though.

Seconding Madoka Magica, Panty&Stocking and dragon ball. Personal dislike of the last contributes greatly but whatever.

The "music" is just annoying and doesn't seem fit with the mood of the anime at all, and the scenes shown in the intro have almost nothing to do with what happens in the show either. I haven't watched too many animes so I'm not an expert or anything, but as soon as I read the title of the thread this is what jumped to mind.

The moment the intro switched to this was the moment I started skipping it. I saw no need to subject myself to having a really loud and annoying man scream down my ear-hole every time I wanted to watch an episode.
For the last chunk of the pre-timeskip episodes, it's somewhat out of place... But following it?

The OP quite clearly suits the tone of the show once it has occurred. Light descends into a madness that he's completely and totally right in doing what he's doing. He's kicked his sense of 'morality' to the curb and become completely obsessed with the concept of him being a 'god' of the world.

In a sense, the OP, for me at least, was a musical representation of Light's mind following his defeat of L.

And it has a fucking great beat to it.

So try and think of it that way and to some degree, it suits the show, again, post timeskip point in the plot.

Incoming personal most despised OP's:

Honestly, most of Ali Projects are mediocre and despisable...

...But the just fucking bring home the fact that ALL THEIR FUCKING SONGS SOUND THE SAME with KTG's second OP.

If I think of any others, I might comment.

Also, HATERS GONNA HATE on Macademi Wasshoi. Yeah, it's nothing revolutionary but god damn it do I fucking 'love' BLADE's art style. That alone is enough for me.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT, TOTALLY FORGOT. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PICK UP KATANAGATARI SHOULD GO PRE-ORDER THE DVD/BLURAY BOXSET COMBO FROM NIS AMERICA. IT'S 70 BUCKS FOR EPISODES 1-7 IIRC. GO FUCKING ORDER IT NOW BITCHES. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

I also completely disagree with OP's stance on Bleach's 4th Opening. Beat Crusaders is an awesome band.
That one was annoying at first, but then I saw this:

Now it's just hilarious.

Bleach's 4th opening (how do you go from Ichirin no Hana to THAT?!)
Yes that was dreadful, but I think a dishonorable mention should go to the Ending Song "Happy People". It was somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd season. I couldn't hit the "close window" button fast enough...ugh.

Here's the link for that one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqe48xKrmCs

Definitely this. Especially considering how great the first intro was.

After I watched fullmetal alchemist, I only had 2 major complaints. One of which is that the intro sucked. Not that it was bad exactly, it just didn't fit the feel of the show at all.

And the first opening was good? it was a bad song with a cringe worthy singer and an utterly generic video that played into almost every anime opening cliche, if someone spilled coffee on the lens...

The second one was some good head banging thrash metal, even though, I'm not fond of screaming it never devolved into crappy screamo... and the video while silly had charm to it even if I didn't like Death Note I liked the second opening... besides that it got me into Maximum The Hormone who are now one of my favorite metal bands up there with Dethklok...

OT: yeah so my vote goes to the first Death Note opening... it makes me sturgeon face every time I hear it...

The first wasn't good either. I hated them both.

Glad someone posted this. I skipped this OP every time. It just doesn't compare to the greatness of the first one at all.

Granted it does fit to what happened at the end but the first opening was such a concentration of pure awesome that I couldn't help feeling disappointed.

Narutaru, hands down.

Looks cheery, right? Sweet and funny, right? Kinda like Digimon, with more badass monsters, eh?

WRONG!

This is possibly the most grimdark, depressing, hellish anime I have ever seen in my life. I've seen some pretty disturbing things in anime, having seen Elfen Lied and the likes, but this anime, or more specifically several scenes of it made me cringe. The OP is deceptive, lures you in, then punishes you a million times for it.

Look it up on Youtube. Go any further than that and you may have a visit by the old bill.

Calumon: I'm not even allowed to see your answer? But why not?

Jack: Because of it's soul damaging properties.
Why. Just why. Why do you know what Boku X Pico is? Why does anyone know what it is? Why does it have to exist?

ot.I agree with on Berserk OP. I love the anime and manga, but that opening. Just that opening.

Well it all makes sense if you've watched the anime. But I can see how it is disturbing to anyone that hasn't. And some people that have seen it.

Boku no Pico.

I'm too lazy to find it on YouTube, and partly because it contains sexual imagery, and, also, I don't want to put anyone through this anime. Not. Another. Innocent. SOUL!!

And, if you're going to go "e-Hunting" for it after you read this comment, make sure to have a barf-bag or two.. you'll thank me later...
