Worst Anime Openings?

really doesn't fit the show at all

Uh...is the singer on the Naruto opening telling me to shoot myself? Regardless that opening is pretty bad, the early Dragonball Z opening was bad too, in a cheesy sort of way, however bad that opening is, I don't hate it though. Nostalgia keeps me from hating it, I guess.

I very much prefer the Funimation dub, despite the discordant singing in the original opening [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPeO5VQmA6c]. The only character that the Tokyopop opening fits is Keisuke... and only at the beginning of the first season... the rest of the drivers (especially Takumi, who, for the sake of the uninitiated, is the main protagonist) don't take the competition nearly that seriously. Even after Takumi gets incredibly serious about racing, he tackles it more the way a student would than the way a fighter would... which was why he was so good at it. He focused more on defeating his bad habits, old records, et cetera, than his opponent.

OT: er... any poppy love song attached to an action title. I never understood that disparity...

Gundam 00 intro. i mean, the song is all happy & all, but here we have gaint mechs beating the shit out of eachother. the intro is good, it just has nothing to do with the anime.

I also completely disagree with OP's stance on Bleach's 4th Opening. Beat Crusaders is an awesome band.

That's... one of the best openings ever. I can understand why some people don't like it, but seriously, I've seen very few anime that had such spectacular openings.

The "music" is just annoying and doesn't seem fit with the mood of the anime at all, and the scenes shown in the intro have almost nothing to do with what happens in the show either. I haven't watched too many animes so I'm not an expert or anything, but as soon as I read the title of the thread this is what jumped to mind.

The moment the intro switched to this was the moment I started skipping it. I saw no need to subject myself to having a really loud and annoying man scream down my ear-hole every time I wanted to watch an episode.

Thematically, Death Note isn't a pretty little show about nice people. Its protagonist is a guy who, when given the power of others lives, decides he will use it to make himself the ruler of a perfect future. Intensity, and anger are the themes that I see. The same feeling of 'holy crap, did that just happen?' that I got at the end of the first episode of Death Note, is epitomized in the raucous second opening of the show.

It's Kira's big Fuck You to the world. Oh, and it's good to headbang to. But yeah.

I do understand why some don't like it though, as it is right on the cusp between great metal, and annoying screamer metal, and there are a lot of people who just don't like that kind of music. I love it, but hey, that doesn't mean everyone does.

People wanted (INCLUDING ME) The same as the first opening. Smart/ like Kira. The Op2 fits a gore-slaughter fight-anime. I dont think it fits Deathnote.. (Maybe after episode 30 where it stopped being smart but thats not the point)
