I've seen a few threads regarding the best main villain of a game, book or movie, due to backstory, motives and redeeming qualities. Usually it's a movie or book character, but sometimes a videogame character.

Now what I'm asking is who in your opinion is the worst main villain in a game due to poinless motives, sheer greed, thrist for power, unnessecary bloodshed, cruelty, smug/cocky attitude, lack of backstory and is just a comeplete all around asshole? Now when you reply please tell me why the person is a comeplete bastard who couldn't die quick enough.

Now my vote goes to Frank Horrigan from Fallout 2. For one, he's a part of a government that believes it has the right to take what it wants, when it wants and he does the same. He act's superior to everyone, kills people casually, has no backstory, has no morals, no consiance of any kind, one of those selfish pricks that would rather wreck it all for everyone rather than die by himself and is just a comeplete tool for the Enclave. Frank Horrigan, fuck you, your nuke, your plasma minigun, your power armor and your backup. That nuke couldn't turn him to dust fast enough.

Your turn.

I didn't like the southern general in Call of Juarez. He just came across as completely crazy, and not in a good way. That and he wouldn't leave me the fuck alone.

Liquid Snake in MGS.

He seems seriously peeved over the fact that Snake and him were born. It's just epic sibling rivalry really....

I didn't like Necron at the end of Final Fantasy 9, because he hadn't even been mentioned before you fought him and didn't really make any sense.
Also Knights of the Old Republic, while Revan had motives, strategy and reason, Malak just came across as "blow shit up." "why?" "because IM EVIL!! MUAHAHAHAH!!"

I've got to go with *spoiler alert!* General Shepard from MW2.

You know how frustrating it is when a video game villain betrays you, and it's so obvious that he was going to right from the get-go, but everyone still acts surprised? Shepard was the exact opposite. Everyone seemed to totally accept it EVEN THOUGH IT MADE NO GODDAMN SENSE!

Seriously, I've asked everyone who ever played the game why he suddenly started killing playable characters left and right, and nobody can give me an answer.

General Shepard, you are a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Wrapped in a stupid plot twist.

Yeah, being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole does not make a good main villain.

The Nazi's in every WWII game ever.

We all know they we're evil, but not as evil as portrayed.
America loves to relive the glory days of when it was in a war that mattered.

Radditz, from Dragon Ball Z. Not only is he a complete bastard, and picks on people weaker than he is, he's not even very powerful himself.

Rhapthorne. He gets sealed away in a scepter so he wants to destroy the world and he's supposed to be a God of some kind? He isn't remotely powerful in either of his forms.

OOOH EDGY!

But seriously, a villain who's only motivation for being so insanly evil is just for the sake of being insanly evil is NOT good characterazation.

Probably any "Team" from pokemon games - they really dont have a motive other than to steal vaguely important things and take over random places...
Also, they get beaten by a single kid, so they're hardly the epitome of effectiveness and organisation...

A lot of final bosses in jrpgs seem to be introduced as the true main villain almost at the end of the game, which really ticks me off, so they have my vote, whoever they are. I can't remember any of them because they get introduced so late ~_~

Sorry might be a few spoilers.

Fontaine. Hes just conartist who wanted to steal a city that he and ryan practically DESTROYED. Thats like trying to take over a guys house after you helped him burned it down.

I personally wouldve said "Fuck it, here have the city and try to restore it. Heres 500$ and all my adam. Go." Then sit back and watch as he gets beaten to death by the first splicer he meets. It wouldve been a smart thing to do before they fucked everything up but really, theres nothing left but crazy people/mutants and little girls with slugs. Overall bioshock was a good game in my opinion, but fontaine was a pathetic antagonist and a boss.

Also Im sure wesker deserves an honorable mention.

Maybe he felt betrayed from previous times, and now that he was doing something that was making a difference, he wanted to take all the credit himself.

But yes he's a selfish bastard..

Zorn and Thorn in Final Fantasy 9, they were just annoying, ass licking wastes of time, especially in the Active Time Events when they just wasted time with irritating dialogue. It was satisfying when I killed them, well it...

If you don't know what I'm talking about you either didn't play FF9 or are crazy.

If it would have been a parody of something, I could have understood it, but seriously? A guy who's only motive is to resurect the confederate army. Or something. That's cartoony evil. Not real person motives.

Another confusing villian goes to CoD MW2s Shepard. Doesn't make any sense.

Either the original Donkey Kong (why does he want her anyway?) of the Gatling Gun toting Hitler from the end of Wolfenstein 3-D.

Necron from Final Fantasy 9. Why does this...thing that I've never heard of right until I fight it at the end of the game have a beef with me? Does my reputation for kleptomania stretch into the shattered dimensions that lay between realities or something?

The part where it's shown him kicking your ass at the end just felt like an insult, if you were beating the crap out of him.
