Robotnik. I don't think he's been the last boss of a Sonic game since Sonic & Knuckles, now he's just pathetic.

The Nazi's in every WWII game ever.

We all know they we're evil, but not as evil as portrayed.
And most of the time you're fighting the Wehrmacht wich isnt really a bunch of nazi's. Its just boys defending their country in a time of need. The SS and officers are a different matter.

OT: Mankar Camaron or whatever his name was from Oblivion. He's shrouded in mystery the entire game and he's supposedly supposed to be very powerful. But when you reach him the first time you realise he doesnt even have his own goddamn voice-actor. And when you finally find him to kill him he's a goddamn pushover. So dissapointing.

Ugh, I'd forgotten the plot-abomination that was FF12...
The plot didn't make too much sense tbh. And Fran the under-dressed over-sexualised rabbit was just awfully acted. Reminded me of the fake Amidala from Phantom Menace

Probably any "Team" from pokemon games - they really dont have a motive other than to steal vaguely important things and take over random places...
Also, they get beaten by a single kid, so they're hardly the epitome of effectiveness and organisation...
They're Saturday Morning Cartoon villains, what'd you expect? Not only are they Saturday Morning Cartoon villains, but they're Saturday Morning Cartoon villains in games primarily targeted at children under 10.

Sorry might be a few spoilers.

Fontaine. Hes just conartist who wanted to steal a city that he and ryan practically DESTROYED. Thats like trying to take over a guys house after you helped him burned it down.

I personally wouldve said "Fuck it, here have the city and try to restore it. Heres 500$ and all my adam. Go." Then sit back and watch as he gets beaten to death by the first splicer he meets. It wouldve been a smart thing to do before they fucked everything up but really, theres nothing left but crazy people/mutants and little girls with slugs. Overall bioshock was a good game in my opinion, but fontaine was a pathetic antagonist and a boss.

Also Im sure wesker deserves an honorable mention.
lets be fair, Fontaine wanted ADAM, not rapture itself. as he put adam would "make standard oil look like the piggly wiggly"

I think I'm gonna pre-call it and say Team Plasma from Pokemon Black & White. They want to free all pokemon and then have NO interaction between pokemon and humans.

I'd have to say Almalexia from Morrowind: Tribunal.

She was just a complete cow for no reason throughout the whole game. Decided to start being an evil ***** to the city when it already worshiped her profusely, then has the temerity to attack the fucking Nereverine! And she killed Sotha Sil :(

OOOH EDGY!

But seriously, a villain who's only motivation for being so insanly evil is just for the sake of being insanly evil is NOT good characterazation.

SEE ALSO:

Makarov wasn't exactly evil just because he was insane. He had the same motive as Zhakaev, return Russia to Soviet times.

Shepard and Wesker weren't insane per se. Wesker was insane by the end of RE5, and Shepard just had a bit of an insane way of doing things. Like starting a war with Russia just to make the United States look good.
Makarov didnt want to restore the union for honor, like Zakhaev. he only helped sheperd because he wanted the money in it.

Lazarevic from Uncharted 2.

I loved the game, but Lazarevic was just your typical insane colonel.

Quite true. But I still never understood his whole obsession with adam and rapture. Hed need at least one little sister and big daddy duo, but hed never even get that far with half the city pissed at him and the other half batshit crazy. Hed lose alot of atlas and fontaine followers once they realize theyve been lied to and with tenenbaum, little sisters, splicers and hacked bots all over him hed consume the adam faster than he can sell or have other uses for it, cause hed be busy fighting for his life. I never did get all the diaries so is there a diary that explains how hed avoid such a backlash? Or any resistance from rapture in general when he tried to control rapture/adam? I always sucked at finding those diaries and I even have the guide book for the game...=/

America loves to relive the glory days of when it was in a war that mattered.
You can't over do it now, because I play war games now, and they've made so many games that it's no longer a war that mattered, it's just an FPS sub-genre. I know how much went on down there and shit, so I know that the history is very important, but when it's just "Woot kill nazis cause this war mattered!" I find it hard to believe

Gol/Maia from Jak and Daxter. There was a lot of potential for a good villain team in those two. It went wholly unexploited. Not only do we not know what their backstory is we don't even really know what their plans and motivation are. Only a little polish would bring out something really good from those two, but as they stand they are very poor antagonists.

Another one: Arantir from Dark Messiah. Not the worst antagonist, to be sure, but I can't stand most when characters aren't used to their full potential, to be sure this is something about me, but I feel it must be said.

I found Fontaine to be a good antagonist. I think you aren't grasping his motivation. Fontaine didn't want Rapture, he wanted the power of Rapture; the power of ADAM. Besides, the splicers follow power, not people. Fontaine's plan was brilliant, destroy Ryan using his own son to take over the city and the ADAM supply. I hold a lot of respect for him.
