Worst films of 2012

I heard Battlehip was crap

This film looks really shitty, I mean who wants to watch this crap?

As sad as this is to admit, watching the Dark Knight Rises trailer actually gives me chills. It looks absolutely fantastic.

Although it clearly won't be able to hold a candle to this

Well, uh. OP is off to a bad start, but...

I saw the Dictator last week, and didn't really find it worked particularly well. For starters, Cohen is playing an African dictator, whilst all stereotypes on which the character is based are clearly arabic.

Secondly, whereas in Borat, you had a character making these bizarre offensive remarks in regular situations, and half of the joke was the reactions of the unsuspecting victims of his pranks, the Dictator is a scripted movie. This means you don't have the awkwardness of people reacting to racist jokes, you just have racist jokes.

That's not necessarily a bad thing; it depends on how good those jokes are- but the Dictator's were quite hit and miss. It certainly had its moments- the helicopter scene, the first ten minutes("Do you want the Aladeen news, or the Aladeen news?"), etc- the rest just fell flat.

This movie sucks, a lot. Nothing happens, nothing is resolved - pointlessness in its entirety. I almost walked out, and I was seeing a free preview screening...

Nothing will beat John Carter in terms of tanking this year though.

Dark Shadows was shit on a crusty roll. I saw the jokes but they had no punch. The love plot was unnecessary and, felt tacked-on. The other love plot was stupid and made no sense to me. Barnabas did some horrible things which he never had to answer for (his final kill count had to be 2 dozen and no repercussions.) Also there's a twist towards the end that came out of nowhere and wasn't explained. Hell, the subject of said twist even says "___ _ ________ OK?! Just deal with it!" or something to that effect. It was completely out of left field and didn't make a difference in the final confrontation.

I'm more worried about the fact that Battleship, for all it's crappiness, already has over $225 million international box office... obviously, foreign audiences have no taste.

I haven't seen any terrible movies so far this year. I've managed to avoid all the crappy ones listed above.

Then again, looking back it would seem the only 2012 movie I've seen thus far is The Avengers. So I guess you could say that it is simultaneously the best and worst movie I've seen this year.

Everything I've seen or read about "Amazing" Spider-Man has made me hate it.


Hope it tanks so that eventually the rights can revert to Marvel Studios & Spidey can get somebody competent to handle a film adaptation.

I concur. I found no enjoyment in 'The Hunger Games' whatsoever, it's definitely not the best adaptation I've ever seen. I don't know, I just felt that it was strictly designed and marketed towards teenagers (which it is), cashing in on the whole 'teen novel to film' idea. I don't know, I can barely articulate myself when it comes to THG.
