I have noticed a large amount of support for foreign films lately, in fact many movies will earn a lot of praise if instead of understanding the dialouge you instead read subtitles. And while most of the time I agree that movies in a foreign language are often a joy to watch (Pan's Labrynth, the Host, Spirited Away, Babel, I've loved you long, Taxi, Gommorrah, Paris 36) everything has flaws and therefore there must exist, naturally, foreign films that aren't good. I mean the magic isn't completely fool proof so I thought I would give an example of a foreign film that was by no means bad but still had enough issues, before I begin though it had a very long title that I managed to completley forget so please bear with me:
It was a movie about a German terrorist group in the sixties fighting against political strife. For a while it was going really well but then I started to see a nasty issue... it never ENDS. It kept missing perfect points to end the story but it just kept GOING, it never stopped. I mean I think the worst was when the movie was undoutedly over, no plot left, all loose ends tied, the lead protagonists are all DEAD... and the movie just gets a new cast and keeps on going for about another hour and a half, I was losing my mind.

So my example is the untitled overlong movie, what's yours?

P.S if you are in an english speaking country that isn't the US you can mention American films that sucked.

P.P.S yes I used the search bar

The death of Mr Lazerescu. A romanian 'black comedy' about a guy who gets bumped from hospital to hospital before he dies. NOT FUNNY! I didn't laugh once and it turned out to be very depressing, mainly due to just about everyone, including the main character, being totally unlikeable. Do NOT watch that movie.

Well I saw this one film on the TV that was in Russian, it was all about this man who was... Well, he was... A 'champion eater' or something like that. Anyway, I can't remember the name of the film, but the story consisted of said 'champion eater' moaning about how no one takes him seriously, a (poor) analysis of Soviet Russia, and something about his wife. (who was also a 'champion eater') I watched about two thirds of the way through before giving up turning over. So it summery it was shit, and yes I know as reviews go that was also shit but I'm not really a review kinda guy so you'll have to excuse me, since I don't do reviews very often.

Define "Foreign." We've got people here from all over the world.
I think he means anything not in the English language, based on the part about subtitles and such.

I found Oldboy boring compared to the manga. Does that count? The original work is just so much more psychological.

I also couldn't get through Battle Royale for some reason. Not the violence, it just didn't draw me in or whatever.

Les Pacts des Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) is a great foreign film, however.

French Native American martial artist coroners fight rowdy peasants, giant wolves and incestuous nobles. There is absolutely no way that could have turned out badly.

Not even the Mighty Power of the American Sci-Fi...sorry, SyFy Channel is able to create worse made-for-TV movies than Germany, HA!

I particulary remember one film that was pretty much a rip off of Jumanji, only infinitely more boring and with the main characters being a troubled patchwork family that overcomes its various issues during that adventure.

In terms of "real" "foreign" movies, i can't stand french humor along the lines of Louis de Funes...seriously, it's just annoying

In terms of American Movies, i am undecided if "Commando" with Arnold Schwarzenegger is the best or worst film ever made...

I rented a movie called the terrorist assuming it might be exciting, only to find that the whole movie had english subtitles and still made no sense. So I'm going to say that's the worst foreign film i've seen.

Dumplings was a weird film. I'm not sure it was bad, but it was just very odd. I guess that can be said of a lot of movies coming out of China though.

I can exposition the plot if people care!

Its technically not foreign but I think "Manos" the Hands of Fate (featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000) is unofficially the worst film of all time. (Complete with full-contact nightgown wrestling).

I'm going to say a little Drama called, "Day Night, Day Night". Technically, it wasn't that bad, it was just poorly paced. The reason I say it was the worst is because it had the potential to pretty much be the most important, amazing film in 25 years, and an incredible premise just fell flat in execution. Basically, a normal looking teenage girl starts working for a terrorist group. They strap a bomb to her, and send her into Times Square. But everything she does leading up to when shes supposed to set off the bomb is pretty normal, everyday stuff, and you get the impression that she is really just lost and confused, and doesn't know what she was doing. You find yourself sympathizing with the, "Terrorist", and hating the system that could drive someone do do something so evil. If it wasn't so flawed, I would say its the most important movie in years.

I own and love that movie!
I know this is a 'worst' thread, but I haven't seen enough to say which is terrible and which is good.
Though I did like 'Run Lola Run', a German film (I think).
And I also liked 'Brotherhood of War', a Korean film.

I think that may have been Taxidermia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxidermia], which was, at best, a weird, terrible, strange, disgusting film. It's a pity didn't see the end, actually, that was...interesting.

The worst foreign movie I think I've ever seen was I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_a_Cyborg,_But_That%27s_OK] for the simple reason that I had absolutely no idea what hell was going on for the entire duration of the movie.

I'm English, so I could say that a lot of Hollywood films are terrible.
I'm American, so I could say you are pretty much right about that statement. We have definitely produced some cr*p, but with a lot of enthusiasim(sp?).:)

I had to watch a series of French movies called "Red", "White" and "Blue" all done by the same writer or director(I can't remember) who used the title color a lot in each film. I thought they were horrible, and boring. It was to pass my language class though, so I had to watch them.

While on holidays in Spain, I watched a Chinese film about a crazy man searching for his lost love.
His best friend's name was Chow Mein, and when his friend died he yelled "NO!! CHOW MEIN!!!", and ran off into the distance.
He could jump over fences like 2D mario, without having to move his legs (and whenever he jumped he went "YAARHH!").
It had the worst, no, the best, well, the most hilarious combat I've ever seen in a film. No one got near to touching each other, and people just collapsed onto the floor without getting hit.
To top it off, at the end came the most awkword kiss in history. It was like a brother and sister had been cast as the two of them.

It was the best movie ever.
