Crysis 2 AI is pretty bad, with mercs running into walls and tables, but I wasn't frustrating, funny bad

and for some reason I got a moderator warning for saying "Crysis 2"

GHOST Squad's A.I. They just all pop out of cover and stand there. They make little attempt to dodge at low levels. They stand rooted the the spot while they reload. However, considering how stupid your character's movements are (running out into open space all the time being the main offence), maybe they're doing it just to fit in.

Half-Life 2's AI isn't really that bad. If you give them room to fight outside the linearity of the game (Gmod), they'll actually take cover and use actual strategies.

OT: The AI for the Imps in Doom 3 is pretty damn bad

Fallout new vegas. I cannot count how many times someone ruan into or out of a room, but got struck behind another character or a wall or a rock, and just ran on the spot.

Most noticeable for me was Sheva's AI in RE:5. Considering that the whole game had an AI partner if you were playing alone I'd have thought that Capcom would have beefed it up a notch.

The enemy in Half Life 2 was great, but the friendly A.I is soooooooo annoying that I wished their was friendly fire to kill all of them. They box in around you in tight corridors, never shut up about reloading, refuse to heal me until they're done giving all of the medkits to one a-hole who's barely hurt, and all get blown up by one grenade and make me die too because of their aforementioned clustering behaviors.

I agree since they don't seen to understand the concept of "taking cover". Example those sinpers somewhere in the city battle level, they all stood there getting sniped...

Nobody suggested the Total war games yet? WHY
The amount of games that I've won [sieges especially] where the enemy has just sat back and not bothered moving, or had a couple of surviving units just keep running away with skirmish and infuriating me until the game ends.

Individual game terrible AI, that prize goes to Garrys mod, you can spend ages setting up an awesome battle between factions, just to have each side shoot themselves in the back or get stuck behind corners.

The mods here hate low content posts, so you should try and lengthen your posts.

GTA III Era GTA games had some pretty bad AI at times. There would be instances in which I would point a gun at someone and they would yell and scream and run away...but then would just stop running and start calmly walking. I would be so mad that they weren't afraid of my gun anymore that I'd cap their asses.

San Andreas Grove Street Families were also quite air-headed (mirroring their real life counterparts). I cannot tell you how many times they'd just run around in circles and get gunned down by the Ballas.

Vice City's example that come to mind is the heist mission. One day I failed it 5 times in a row because my cohorts would walk into the street and get WREAKED by a speeding car. WTF is wrong with them/the driver??

KOEI/Dynasty Warriors. I really doubt any other company created a bunch of AI as uninterested in the fighting as the peons in DW series. It's like "OMG, It's general chen, what is this feeling, my limbs won't move, my hands are shaking uncontrollably, I'm just going to stay right here and wait for the mighty general Chen to smite me with his gigantic war fan." - Random peon #529

Somehow, playing as General Chen, is mildly entertaining, until Lu Bu shows up.
Dynasty Warriors 4 was pretty good, the AI was pretty unforgiving at times and most of the time they seemed to make it their life's goal to never let you perform a jump charge attack. That and they would actually use proper combos, even the privates, and sometimes even use musou attacks.

And don't get me started on archers...

Edit: Who's General Chen by the way; are you referring to Chen Gong, Chen Tai or are you just making fun of Chinese names like so many other people do?
Lol, I was actually thinking of Chen from Brink. They repeat his name so many times, it's stuck in my head now. > . >

I usually main Guan Ping in DW.

I'm pretty sure most Bethesda games have quite bad AI. Oh and Alpha Protocol... Just Alpha Protocol
In all fairness, Bethesda games are all open-world sandboxes, so it's much more difficult to plan and script AI behavioural patterns, knowing that they'll have to function well in a wide variety of environments rather than just a few specially designed ones. It is, however, still atrocious for the most part.

Really? Has no one really suggested left 4 dead 1 and 2?
They were zombies, what do you expect? Of course they're not particularly intelligent, but they're not supposed to be.
I meant the friendly AI. It's just fucking horrendous

Whenever you attack them, they go sit on a hill and let you pick off their units 1 by 1, even in melee.
Though no AI was as stuuuuupid as Empire: Total War's. They love to march towards the right corner of my side of the map, completely ignoring my guys as they fire at them. At least until they LITERALLY walk into my guys and get stuck in a melee they have to fight. If they do march straight at me, their center 5 units all target my center unit while ignoring my guys which are taking flank shots into their turned lines. Derp AI is herp derp.
