Right now there have been a lot of threads about what games have the best musical scores and I was always ready to give my view on what the best were i.e Halo, Otogi, Gears of War (yeah I sai it), Bioshock, Mass Effect, Portal (Still alive FTW), Call of Duty and Saints row 2 for example.
But what game do you think has the WORST music of all time, the music that makes you want to cover your ears before they bleed so hard that all your bodily fluids drain out? The stuff that isn't so much music as it is making loud noises with instruments? What one bit of in game music or even the whole soundtrack have you found to be utterly unbearable? I actually right now can't think of many games that had truly awful music, I guess it's because I'm somehow gifted to only find the good stuf.... no wait I got it, the sound track in most Japenese fighting games. Maybe it sounds cool over there but against my western eardrum it is just awful and often I play those games on mute.

So how about you, worst music in a game, indivdual piece or even whole soundtrack?

I can remember playing this old NES game when i was younger, they music was so grating, even by 8bit standards, i think it was called Rad Gravity.

I think the music to Street Fighter II is terrible. It's okay on it's own I suppose, but they really picked terrible music to fight to. It's all soft jazz and far too soothing for a game that's supposed to be about kicking butt and taking names. I prefer to turn the sound down on that game and play my own music. 80's heavy metal music like Whitesnake or Van Halen works better with that game.

I also get really sick of the music on most older racing games. Usually, I turn it off as it gets really annoying after the first lap or two. One exception would be the Burnout (and newer games that came out after it) games as at least those games had some variety in their music and it wasn't the same song over and over.

The fucking forest temple in Zelda: OoT.

I hate hate hate it.

Street Fighter IV's theme gets an honourable mention though, because that is truely terrible.

Why do people keep saying that Portal has a brilliant "score"? It's one good song at the end and some pretty unremarkable synth pads throughout the rest of it.

Anyway, as if I wasn't gonna get flamed badly enough for that... I HATE the music in Half-Life 2 and always make sure to switch it off.

The Forest Temple? That always reminds me of something spinning for some reason, I don't mind it.

But my vote would have to go towards the original Legend of Zelda. Sure, the tracks themselves weren't too bad, but there were only about 3 pieces. And they were all repeated.
