Hmm.... I've had a pile of questionable budget titles for Atari ST, PC, PSX and others... but full price ones? Hmm...

I had some kind of Grand Prix Legends knockoff that looked good on the box, was half the price (and more available) than the better known title, and actually seemed good when loaded... but the published min/rec specs on the box were SO far out of line with reality, that it was unplayably slow on my otherwise perfectly good computer. As in single-figure FPS performance in the less demanding sections, and SINGLE FPS at the more challenging ones. You can't really win a race when you have a 2-second ish gap between inputs (steer, wait to see outcome of steering, do something else in response).

Luckily the guys in the shop were sympathetic when I took it back the next day. Can't even remember the name or what I got instead.

Terrible waste of money that I KEPT? Probably Terra Nova (utterly incomprehensible, even when you managed to convince your graphics card to work with its trick 320x400 resolution) that I never even got past the first stage of. Gran Turismo 3 for the PS2, which I bought full price and stuck with for a while, but dropped like a hot rock the second GT4 came out, which was basically the same game but without all the egregious graphical & gameplay bugs and specification errors. Or maybe Taz Mania for the Gamegear, which was pretty much the epitome of a mediocre, uncared-for platformer which promised much but delivered very, very little and didn't work right to boot. £17 of pocket money right down the drain. Shoulda took it back. Still got it...
(It's not like the system couldn't do awesome stuff; we then got Star Wars at christmas, which was an epic game, particularly given the hardware)

Rock band 2.

Fun for a while, but not worth the $160 I paid for it.
You paid $160 for one game? Where do live and how awful is the economy there?

As for me it was... Actually I'm not quite sure. When typing this I had come up with several possible winners of this competition but smacked it down thinking "There must have been something worse than this." I can promise you that if I typed one of the answers I would edit five minutes after the post. Then every couple more minutes I would change the edit answer.

Just remembered something. A few months ago I brought Shaq Fu for the megadrive, mostly out of intrigue of actually how bad it was. It cost me a full £5, and doesn't even function properly.
For those who don't know, Shaq Fu was a terrible fighting game on SNES and Megadrive starring Shaquille O'Neal, that is ranked among some of the worst games of all time. There is a website dedicated to getting people to purchase and destroy every copy of the game in existence, so that our children can grow up in a Shaq Fu-free world.

SPLIT/SECOND. On paper in sounded great! an entire city built just to be destroyed by the player (you). but....no. you have to race against A.I who are the biggest a-holes, d-bags, and every bad word under the sun. and they ALWAYS have better cars, in-human reaction times, so much luck it's like they filled their cars with horseshoes, rabbit's feet and 4 leaf clovers.
I hate that game so much. I really do.

Oblivion? Trollol. Nah, I honestly regretted buying GTA 4 as soon after a few hours. I was expecting it to get better.

Command and Conquer 4.

Do you want to buy if from me for $1? Well you can't. It's my new $90(NZD) drinks coaster. I even paid to upgrade my PC so I could play it. I hate paying for a game that aggravates me. It aggravates me even more if I can't sell that game. Or even give it away when it turns out to be a complete turd. Never again EA. Never again.

I bought Hydrophobia (meant to be one of the worst PC games out this year) for £3 without reading any reviews first, or even checking if it can run on my system. It can't. Which is probably a good thing.

My biggest disappointment however was Borderlands, which I found astonishingly boring. Luckily I only paid about £8 for it, but it is still more than it deserves.

EDIT: oh shit, I forgot about the most recent Rainbow Six! That was a boring game. Yeesh. What is it with Tom Clancy and having to fight helicopter bosses, anyway?

The absolute worst purchase I ever made was probably Resistance 2. The first one was a pretty good shooter for a launch title. The second is filled with some of the worst pacing, and level design I've ever seen. It is hands down one of the worst games I've ever played.

My second worst purchase of all time is probably Resident Evil 4. It was fun for about as long as the village at the start lasts. Then you start to notice that the entire game is made up of firing off a few shots, running away, firing a few more shots. All the while you have to put up with the same enemies for 80% of the game and the fact that you can't move while shooting, and fight with a laser sight that only shows up on enemies making it nearly impossible to find where you're aiming until they're 10 feet from you. Quick time events which give you about a second to react and then change the button you need to press if you fail for no other reason than to fuck with you were also pretty stupid. And this whole combination of the mind numbingly dull and frustrating lasted for about twice as long as it should have.

I bring this up as often as I can for threads like these, front mission evolved. I would rather play nothing than ever load that game up. Bought it on steam since I liked the other ones I played. Too bad this one "evolved" into complete shit.
Runner up would be my collectors edition of final fantasy 14, but I at least got an artbook and journal with it...

Assasin's Creed: Brotherhood. Sadly.
I love the series, but since buying it, I've had no inclination to play it whatsoever, I haven't even put the disc in my ps3.
The worst thing is, I know I'll have fun once I'm playing, I just never feel like it to actually start playing.

My worst purchases are classified in terms of console.

PS2
Runner up: HeadHunter Redemption - what the hell? I didn't understand any of the controls or mechanics - and it was boring as hell.

Winner: Final Fantasy X-2 - Even though I've been told this was the worst game to enter the franchise on, It still takes first place.

Xbox360
Runner Up: A draw between Just Cause and Dead Rising - they both suck equally but have mega potential which was disappointing.

Winner: Brutal Legend - by far the worst game in my collection in my opinion, a third person RTS? Really? Who thought that would work? And the endless clichéd heavy metal references just numbed my mind.

Fallout 3, GOTY edition.
Bought it at full price, around 55 euros. Took me 5 restarts to get that buggy fucker past the first fvault. As I got to Tenpenny tower, I couldn't take anymore, and gave up.

Bit.TRIP.Beat

It's a horrible game, I don't even remember why I bought it. I think I was under the impression that it was Bit.TRIP.Runner...
