Last night I was playing some Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 and I must have put an entire clip right into this guys head on the first mission. I saw every bullet hit him and saw the blood spraying out of his head. Still wouldn't go down so I lobbed a grenade and was done with it.

My favorite was in Blacks Ops where I was going to lose a gun-fight, so I threw a tomahawk in desperation but it clearly missed by a mile only for the guy to fall over dead anyways and for me to get the kill. The replay showed my tomahawk throw going a good 20 feet to the left of the guy, then somehow arcing back and hitting him in the back.

Another weird one was a replay I've actually saved thats show's in slow-motion my tomahawk going into a person's rib-cage, only to fly out the other side with no damage done. CoD kinda sucks for hit-detection huh?

Oh and on Gravel Pit on TF2 I'd been sniping on the ledge near the control B I think, whatever the one in the tiny building was. I was sitting on the very edge and was mostly just practicin' with the Hunstman, when I watch a spy standing below me jump up and stab my show, only for it to count as a backstab.

The Gears of War series. I seriously think the series flips a coin to determine if you got a head shot of missed completely. I have missed one shot and the computer will not move so I put another down range in the EXACT SAME SPOT and get a head shot. : ? /

The ironic thing is that their masks are said to be nerevars face. I love the transition from being called a heathen to reluctant god. As well as just being able to tell people you killed vivec and alm in tribunal and have them flip out at you.
I love how Vivec says, "Someday you may need to kill me too." I can't help it, I always have to kill him after he says that. :p
You need to read this. http://fallingawkwardly.wordpress.com/2010/08/29/the-metaphysics-of-morrowind-part-1/
Read Part 1 and my head is spinning. Going to start Part 2 and hope my brain doesn't melt.
Reading it atm it's really funny and interesting love the fact that it blames the player for all the messed up time and the reference to Animal Crossing.

I knew about the Warp in the West from playing DF and reading the books I never knew about the breaking the dragon thing though. xD

It is done really well, they know how to keep their diehard lore fans happy. Not only do you allow every ending to happen, this allows you to go in so many different directions afterwards and adds a huge element of mystery for people to read into. That and the fact that every book isn't always true, like real life history.

As for everyone complaining about the hit detection in morrowind; Agility. Focus on it at the start, alongside the actual weapon skill itself. If you need it to be really high, go Bosmer for it at 50, then specialize in it to get it to 60, then take The Lover sign to get it to 85. Also keep an eye on your stamina, the higher it is, the more likely you will hit.

I'm not even going to try to explain any of this craziness to my friends. They'll think I am loonier than I already am D:

Oh once I was standing at Booty Bay in WOW. I was waiting for the boat with my hunter pet beside me.
This high level hunter decides to kill my pet. He takes the shot but then my pet evades and he gets beaten up by the guards.

It was kind of funny and tragic at the same time.
Amazing. Karma in its purest form.

As for me, this one time, I shot a guy in a game, and it hit him, and he died.

That'll probably be the worst story in this thread.

That was one of the most thoroughly entertaining things I've seen in a long time. And it makes me want Battlefield 3 again :D how is the community, and would you say it's worth it?

EDIT:

Oh, shit, I just remembered I had a good story. Friend of mine was playing Anniversary in Halo Reach, and he no-scoped a wall.

Headshot a guy. There was no ricochet. I'll post the video later if I can get ahold of it.

Have you guys ever played any F2P shooters? The hit detection is normally fucking horrific - it can sometimes take in excess of a whole damn second for a hit to register on some bastard.
Ironically enough, Crossfire has some of the best hit detection I have ever seen in any online shooter.

OT: Every Black Ops game, ever.
Crossfire's pretty good, yeah, but stuff like Combat Arms and WarRock make me shiver with fear whenever I consider how enormous the latency must be.

The Mechwarrior 2 group of games. Don't get me wrong, FASA did some stuff really well, but there lackluster conversion of the PnP hit system to the video games just wasn't one of them.

That mech running across my screen from left to right (so the right side is facing me) and I take a perfect shot at the right leg? Explain to me how I hit the weapon pod on the LEFT SIDE that is covered by the ENTIRE mech body. Then there's the Autocannons who have a very short range yet in that particular range would have a spray measured in meters but nowhere near the targeting reticule.

A NCR officer in New Vegas, found him wandering round near Novac and took a fancy to his helmet (playing as a git) Shot him once, he goes down, so I head of to collect my goodies, when he gets up. One more bullet, down he goes again, and up he gets again.

20 shots later I wonder what the hell I'm doing, I've spent more in bullets than the helmets worth!

Speaking of exploiting the game to get hilariously pathetic adversaries, have you ever cast an aoe levitate (magnitude - 1) spell at a group of enemies? First time I did it I nearly cried laughing.
Despite hundreds of hours, no, I must try it sometime.

My fave is casting a long and powerful levitate on ordinators in vivec and watching them slowly walk up to the skies, then the levitate falls, and well. All I can say is it reminds me of a certain scrolls of icarian flight.
Ordinators deserve such treatment. Those guys are vengeful pricks D:
I levitated an ordinator once and lured him over the side. He fell about thirty feet but survived anyway. I hate ordinators.

There are countless videos on YT about it. It was really common and HIGHLY frustrating. Especially if you were a shotgun user.
How could the shotguns have slipped my mind? Or when you go to knife someone, see blood, see a hit marker, and they turn around and shotgun you.
Or when someone comes at you head on in CQC and you shoot them with a shotgun and you see blood, but then they suddenly leap foward 3 meters in an instant and stick a knife in your neck.

Really though, shotguns got the short end of the stick when it came to BFBC2's hit detection.

I got shot through a fire truck once. Front to back, not side to side. I don't know how, I really, really, REALLY don't. I saw the camera, the guy was shooting, and I was around the fire truck, he had an SMG and the round went through the back, came out the front and killed me. The boundaries of logic and reason defy that kill, because in RL...I know a .45 can't go through twenty feet of road vehicle. I know IN GAME that a .45 can't go through that firetruck because I tried to replicate it.

But no, unless the bullet turned right, went alongside the vehicle, turned left to go through a sliver of vehilce before turning right and bursting through the lightweight frame to kill me, I'm at a loss...but this is CoD: MW3 and there are pieces of cloth that stop .50 cal rounds in that game...
