What's the worst thing a character in a game has told you to do?
My one would be the eternal 'let's split up' mainly present in GoW.

Plants Vs Zombies.

The note lied, You don't win if you do nothing and let the zombies get to the house.

At the beginning of every MGS game (with the exception of 4) where they call you up every 2 seconds to do the most simplest of actions.

Fuck off, Colonel! I know how to climb a fucking ladder!!!

As well as the pool party note. The music note wasn't however.

You know how in some games you make your character walk to the tutorial then it says,
"Move joystick to walk."
Yeah that.

"Press C to Jump." Its freaking B to jump! Its probably happened in some game before... I agree though, the splitting up options in games never go well... nor in movies... or in anything, ever... come to think of it why the hell do people split up?

You've played this game for a long time, shouldn't you be doing something better with your time?

Both made me wet myself in MGS2

Apparently to accomplish their goals more quickly. However since you nearly always end up bailing them out it doesn't work very well. Also whatever you're looking for is always going to be down the path the protagonist chooses.
Oh yes and in halo 2 when you first fight hunters. 'Marines, stand back. Let the chief show you how it's done'. No thanks.

"Remember that while your characters don't need to eat, YOU do."
-Baldur's Gate loading screen.
Or was it World of Warcraft?

Either way, they lied. I don't NEED to eat, it's just required to continue living.

Final Fantasy 4 - When the Lunarian guy tells you to kill the defense node first in the CPU boss "because it heals the main CPU"

If you do that, the attack node WILL fry you to a crisp before you know what's happening.

No so much that it is bad, it's just delivered at the most idiotic moment.

Fighting Thardus in Metroid Prime. You can dodge his rolling attack by going into a morph ball, yet this is never mentioned until AFTER you figure it out.

Well proably dosen't count as in game but when playing Left 4 Dead with one of my friends who just got the game I told him to jump out of a window on Blood Harvest 4. He jumps right out and I laugh my way to the safe house.

I can also think of the best out of game advice.

Also in one of the loading screens for Halo Wars it says that the game plays like rock paper scissors. Vehicles beat infantry. Air beats Vehicles. And Infantry beats air? Fuck that. I'm not going to bring a bunch of marines in a fight against a bunch of Hornets. Now Wolverines thats what I would bring.

Both WoW and Baldur's Gate II had similar tips on their loading screens
