"If you find yourself dying alot, you may want to lower the difficulty level."

I have never once listened to this, it usually comes from having an unlucky autosave.

James has a really odd fascination with Holes..
Digging Holes, Jumping down Holes, Reaching in Holes in the wall, fishing keys out of Holes..

Medal of Honor: Frontline's first mission.
Your CO tells you that if you get split up, to meet him on the beach. Gee, Sarge, isn't that.. like common sense?

Personally, I'd be all for that suggestion.
Reminds me of the temple of the ocean king in zelda hourglass. Every time one of the monsters sees you the screen starts flashing and your fairy friend advises you to leg it.

If anyone has played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, they'll understand this. In the swamps (very first area), where you've got to help random S.O.S signals sent via radio to you. "they're like help, we're under attack." You then stop your artifact finding or gun scavenging, and race over there, prepared for a massive fight. Either when you're there or halfway there, the mission resolves itself and they've killed all the intruders.
And then there's the times when you fail a mission, just because there's no warning that someone's under attack, and if you're like me, i HATEEEEE failing missions in games.
I think this one wins by far.

Yeah, I wish someone would have told me that before I went to that karaoke club. Now I'm forbidden to step foot in Amish country again.
What the hell would the Amish be doing with a karaoke set up?

Anyway, most annoying advice for me is in Predator: Concrete Jungle. The tutorial goes through a load of gumpf, climbing, basic kill moves etc. Only to dump you in the game and ask you to pull off a kill move it hasn't told you about. Grab a NPC, hang him and skin him.
A great nod to the movies...if you could actually do the fucking move.

In MGS3, towards the end when you have to wait for the Shagohod to cross a bridge, EVA tells you to shoot the bomb on the bridge when it gets there, but every two seconds she'll say "the Shagohod isn't hear yet," I know damn it!

"Don't get shot." Ooohhh... DON'T get shot.
I don't remember where it was from but I thought it was hilarious. Best part was that it was actual advice. Not ingame dialogue. Actual gaming advice.

The origial Fable: "Your health is low!" or "Try to get your combat multiplier even higher." from the Guildmaster every ten seconds for the duration of the game. I am aware that I am about to die, please stop reminding me.

Especially at low level when you can't take many hits. Any way there was never any need to heal yourself, resurrection phials were easy to find and fully restored your health.
