Castlevania 64's was pretty awful, especially during the part where you have to carry a pail of nitroglycerin through the castle without being hit or falling.

Baroque's shitty iOS port. They fucked that port up so bad, especially since I loved the wii version.

I remember the camera being a part of why I stopped playing Too Human.

Five Nights at Freddy's too, but because all the cameras scared the shit out of me.

I dont know about worst but I remember the camera in Tomb Raider 1 and 2 annoyed the hell out of me (hated the old tomb raiders so never tried many after 2 until Crystal Dynamics got it).

Metal Gear Revengeance also had a bloody awful camera that really let the game down for me would it really be so hard to pull back a little and have it at a slightly sharper angle so I can see whats going on easier? One of my friends got so annoyed with the camera in this game he turned it off half way through the first level in utter disgust.

I fourth (possibly fifth) Kingdom of Amalur for the Bad Camera award nomination. And I'm one of those people who are usually not too bothered by camera positioning, either; I'll get annoyed at a camera sway out during a fight, curse three seconds while I try to swing things around, then forget about it after the action is over.

And then Amalur comes along. ONE HOUR of playing that game, I had to stop and stretch and get rid of the crick in my neck from unconsciously trying to hunch forward and look up, up at the cavern ceiling or the fluffy clouds in the sky or the arrow coming at me from beyond my two meters of ground-bound horizon. After two hours, I developped an actual headache from playing.

Ragequit, aspirin, and a day later I found a mod that made things look a bit like the interior of a fish bowl but at least allowed my character to straighten up from her apparent permanent mopy ground-entranced slump, and that made all the difference. Seriously, did anybody quality control that part of the game or were they already having so many financial difficulties they didn't even care anymore...?

I'm not enjoying Resident Evil Revelations' camera.

So when did 'over-the-shoulder' graduate to 'right-of-the-hip'?

I think the worst one I remember is Goblin commander For the original XBOX that combined with pretty terrible controls made it so i never got beyond the first goblin tribe out of like 4

Terminal Reality's early games - Nocturne and Blair Witch had some atrocious camera angles. By themselves they weren't bad, kinda like in other survival horror games, where you have it hung in one place, not following the character, but combining it with shooter-like controls, absolutely no aim assist, and a crosshair being a small red dot of a laser sight, the camera made the experience with these games unbearable.
I thought i was the only one to ever play those frustrating Pos games.

Recently State of Decay: The camera follows too far behind you so when you go into heavy vegetation or into a building you are totally blind to what happening most of the time. I remember entering a building a getting blitzed by 3 zeds and having to swing mostly blind to try to not die. It is over the should too which makes meleeing a huge pain since you often swing too soon or too late. The best part? no option to use 1st person view to mitigate the crappy camera.
