Worst installation you've ever experienced?

If I was to install WoW from scratch, it'd be pretty aweful dur to expansions and patching. Since I played from the beginning, it wasn't so bad only having to worry about the small patching done normaly and the occasional big patch when new content was introduced. The worst was when a patch didn't go as planned and ended up basicly shutting down the game for awhile, sometimes days.

Worst installation I did experience was Diablo 2 where you have to keep switching the disks back and forth, even with the expansion, and then get patches. Even the Betas for it and LoD didn't have to switch disks during installation.

Worst install I couldn't really say, but Age of Conan certainly ranks high in my list. Imagine if you will a game where the fresh install already takes up 27!! Gigabytes, it then promptly starts downloading some patches, ending up a whopping 34!!! Gigabytes by the time it's ready to play.

This process takes a good deal of time, because as you can imagine downloading a 7GB patch is going to take a while, especially on a 4Mbit internet connection.

Although the install from DVD takes quite a while already, extracting 27GB worth of highly compressed data from 2 dual-layer DVDs isn't a fast process.

oh yeah, i tried to download perfect world as well, but gave up when i saw the size of the file download.

worst for me was an attempt to download a trial version of autograph. i was using a dial up connection at the time, and as a result it took 23 hours to download. i then had to do it again, because some idiot picked up the phone halfway through, and i didn't notice that it stopped the download.

This. WoW always takes 3 days to install for me. When WotLK came out, my disk didn't work, so I spent a day looking for a solution, a day downloading it after the solution worked, several hours figuring out why it wasn't working, found out I had the American version (I'm British), and then another day downloading the UK version. What a waste of time.

Anything that recommend I install their toolbar. If I installed every toolbar I was offered, I wouldn't be able to see this, because of all the fucking toolbars.

I'm fine with Chrome's omni-bar, thank you very much.

Gunz the Duel is also a pain, because they don't include the latest update in their manual install. After you're done installing it, it torrents the latest update and gets throttled.

Rohan: Blood Feud.

Three tries of acquiring Rohan = >5 hours of waiting for it to download before it notices that a file is missing, with a message saying that it therefore needs to be downloaded again.
Grrr...

Final Fantasy XI.
First a 2 hour download for playonline and a 6 hour up date.
Then for the actual game an hour long download and a freaking 10 hour update >.<
I was not pleased...

Pretty much anything was a trying experience in the days of dial-up. Not only were you installing files that were 14000KB+(!), but you were doing it in dial-up. I can't even begin to say how bad waiting for Doom 2 was.

Mass Effect for the PC it was the shitty versions EA printed out that didn't even work something got fucked up in production so the damn discs were useless.

Neverwinter Nights 2. The PAIN. I've installed that game and reinstalled it more times than half of my other games PUT TOGETHER. This is mostly trying to find the right balance of official patches and modifications I myself make to it.

The freaky thing is that sometimes, after wiping the entire thing, the same glitches carry over, and sometimes they don't o.o.

The fact that installing both the base game and Mask of the Betrayer both have long instal times doesn't help much.

Recently I tried to install a free MMO called Perfect World, and boy, was it awful. The game had to go through no more than 3 installation processes, and canceling any of them at any time would make you have to go back to the beginning. Not only that, but the game takes up about 8 GB by the time it's all done, and half of it are in files you will never use. Also, it makes you think at several occasions that you're missing key files, but really you aren't. Checking for the missing files will freeze or slow down your computer, and takes twice as long as the original install. Then, after all that, there's a patch and update that ALSO has to install files to your PC, taking up more space and time. I gave up and deleted it because I just didn't want to find out after all that the game wouldn't play.

I never had a problem with installing PW, however good choice on deleting it. It's grind heavy and cash shop dependant.

Worst installation for me would be dawn of war, for some reason my computer would not install my copy of the first game.
When it did install, It wouldn't patch so I had to download every single patch.
The next two games installed fine but they still wouldn't auto patch, it was a boring day.

Any 3rd party steam game.

Never buy 3rd party games from steam... unless absolutely necessary...

Myself and about 5 people I know have had nothing but glitches from 3rd party games bought off steam.

instaltion: done in 10 min.... then i had to make 64321546372 tusend of accunts around the nett to play online.... and i was a bad game to....

i miss games like: Rune(halls of vallahll),unreal(2)(tournment 99)so on...
all you needed was a disc(next,next,next,next, "instaling...." finished, play)
