I went to Game in my area this afternoon and you wouldn't believe what happened. As I entered I say them labeling copies of Final Fantasy XIII for the Tuesday release. I physically saw the games and what's worse is both copies I order were being labeled with price tags right in front of me. First the APOCALYPS3 then this! Talk about a series of unfortunate events! Anyone else have bad luck like this before?

Oh...I entered this thread expecting a story of how your console of choice suddenly burst into flames, then your game collection burst into flames and the fire brigade, to put it out, stomped on them with concrete boots. But maybe my imagination is working overtime.

OT: No, nothing like that.
I have had 3 RRoD's in three years though.

Ok I admit it. I guess I was over exagerating, but I'm a fanboy and we're all stupid like that!

Stuff explodes around me more often in Smash Bros games... I didn't even know those apples in Kirby's stage exploded...

In real life, no. I wasn't affected by the measly 24 hours of not playing PS3 (I don't own one, and besides, I can go 24 hours without a game) and that story about seeing a game you pre-order doesn't really sound like bad luck.

Here's a story of bad gaming luck. I was playing the PC version of San Andreas, doing a very simple mission, and I mean SIMPLE. It's one of the first missions you do in San Fierro, all you do is drive around and pick people up. No chases, no guns, no explosions, no time limit...all you do is drive around and get acquainted with some characters. By far one of the easiest missions in the game.

The first time I played it, the game crashed. Alright, no biggie. It happens occasionally, and it's not a hard mission or anything. The second time, I go to pick up Zero, but I'm parked so he has to run over to the other side of the car to get in. Incidentally, there is a tram that runs thorough the city whose tracks happen to be exactly where Zero has to stand to get in. Just as he's about to get in...you guessed it, the stupid tram happens to come by at that exact moment and runs him over. Son of a *****, what are the odds of that!? The third time, the game crashes yet again! Realizing something was wrong, I rebooted the computer. I finally succeeded the fourth time, and I was very careful to make sure I picked up Zero without him having to run around the car.

You know you have bad luck when one of the easiest missions proves to be one of the most difficult.

I keep reading about these RRoD... I have never, ever since the 360 came out, had one.

I had one 360 from the day it was released worldwide, up until 2 months ago with not a single problem. Then I accidentally knocked it off my balcony.. so bought another one. 2 months still no probs.

These RRoD, I only discovered a few weeks ago. Ha, guess I've been lucky? Is it a common thing?

OK... how about people giving their worst luck stories instead of reminding me that I'm a stupid fanboy. That's what I really wanted to see.

Anyone have any good stories?

Very lucky, everyone I know who has a 360 has gotten the god damn thing at least once. And I mean everyone.

I think that... Something with statistics showed that only 2% of the original xbox's were working after 3 years. That or 2% is the failure rate on the new models.

I recall one particularly unlicky thing to happen in a game was during an MW match. I was spawning in one of those out of the way closets which, for some reason, was right next to a door. An ally was standing in the door and there was an RPG on its way towards him. I spawned in the path of an RPG that had already been fired. It wasn't, "spawn, fire, die" it was "fire, spawn, die". I do question that game sometimes.

That... well worse things could happen, but I must admit, that would be TORTUROUS.

I just pre-ordered my FFXIII today, and I'm getting more and more hyped by the minute... >.<

A while ago, when I walked out of a GameStop store with MGS4, a guy riding a moped somehow managed to crash into me from behind.
I broke my arm and collar bone, but worse, my copy of MGS4 cracked and I didn't buy the disc protection thingy!
The guy just drove away, and he never even got caught.
Police are so useful.

Twas not a good day.

I gots one for ya...it was like God was fucking with me.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to this gig with my friends, but eventually I thought I might as well and turned off my xbox and logged on MSN to see if anyone was on. Luckily one of my friends who was going was online, and I told him I was up for it. I then learned that, rather than it being the next day as I thought, the gig was that night. 'Great!' I thought, 'This is gonna be awesome'. I turn on my xbox, and oh...RRoD.
It's almost like God went 'Oh, think you're gonna enjoy that gig, huh? At the price of your xbox ************!'

Don't worry about the fanboyism.
I'm a bit of a fanboy too. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.178502-Poll-Sassafrass-was-bored-so-he-decided-to-preview-Final-Fantasy-XIII-13-in-a-day]

OT: Just remembered another thing that is bad luck.
Playing GTA IV, then a weird grinding noise is heard. Up comes the 'Clean Disc' warning. Upon removing the disc, I find a perfect scratch 3/4 the way around the outside of the disc A.K.A The Halo of Death, thus ruining it and making it unplayable.

My 360 Red Ringed for the first time in 5 years when I was half an hour before the apparently awesome ending of Assassin's Creed 2. That made me pull the face you see in my avatar alright.

Also, WoW screwed me over big time when I started playing it like 3 years ago. It took me about a month after the actual purchase of the game that I could finally start playing. I got 1 disc that was screwed, went back to the shop to get the disc replaced and that disc too was screwed. So I had to send the copy to Blizzard which took ages. The same goddamn thing happened with Burning Crusade. Glad I didn't have to send that to Blizzard though, still took a week or something.

The first time I wanted to buy a headset wasn't very fortunate either. I called up the local electronics store to see if they had any good ones. Yes they said, they had just arrived. So I hung up and went to town, which took me about 10 minutes. And in that 10 minutes, all those headsets were sold already. I mean come on what are the odds?! So I had to wait for another 2 weeks for new ones to arrive, and this time I made sure they kept one for me.
