Oh...I entered this thread expecting a story of how your console of choice suddenly burst into flames, then your game collection burst into flames and the fire brigade, to put it out, stomped on them with concrete boots. But maybe my imagination is working overtime.

OT: No, nothing like that.
I have had 3 RRoD's in three years though.
I keep reading about these RRoD... I have never, ever since the 360 came out, had one.

I had one 360 from the day it was released worldwide, up until 2 months ago with not a single problem. Then I accidentally knocked it off my balcony.. so bought another one. 2 months still no probs.

These RRoD, I only discovered a few weeks ago. Ha, guess I've been lucky? Is it a common thing?
Did you perchance only discover the internet a few weeks ago?

wait, both copies?

as in

you're buying two copies of FF13?

why?
Fanboy and Collector! I pre-ordered the standard for 360 and the CE for PS3.
so seriously, they're both for you? You're not buying one for yourself, and one for someone else?

you have too much money *grumbles*

I pre-ordered Little Big Planet. It was the first time in years I'd pre-ordered a game. When it was recalled the store I'd ordered it from SENT IT BACK so a song some people found offensive could be removed (I can't emphasize enough here how much I hate censorship and how angry this situation made me). I later found out that if I hadn't pre-ordered I could probably have found it, uncensored, at a store near my house that wasn't complying with the recall.

On top of all this, when the place I had ordered it from finally got it in it was on a weekend, so I had to drive an hour each way to pick it up (I had pre-ordered from a store near work as I was expecting it to be there on a weekday). In retrospect I'd have been better off if I'd just canceled the order on principle when I first learned it had been sent back.

Not the worst thing ever, but it did put me off of pre-ordering.

I pre-ordered back in September last year. Just finished paying it off last week.

[EDIT] I pre-ordered the CE for PS3 in January and the staff were a little angry when they had to change the PS3 version in the system.

<spoiler=Spoiler'd for length>I was doing the Marine Research Labs mission in Aliens vs. Predator on Nightmare difficulty and it was about my tenth time going through that level.

As players of that game might know, Nightmare difficulty disables checkpoints so you have to restart the level if you die. Out of the ten times I tried to beat the level, only twice did I make it to the boss. The first time I blew myself up with a grenade because an Alien jumped in front of my face and the second time I backed myself into the shorter corridor by mistake.

I managed to get to the room before the boss fight without losing any health and I was pumped that I had got that far. My heart was beating fast and I was fairly nervous. Instead of taking him on right away, I decided to get up to stretch and relax a bit.

Unfortunately, it seems that the combination of my accelerated heart rate, my irregular sleep pattern and the fact that I hadn't stretched in a while took its toll on me. When I stretched, I greyed out.

When I came to, I woke up in the corner of the room (said corner happens to have wires exposed from a powerpoint that has not been properly attached to the wall, by the way) and I took five minutes to get my bearings.

When I resumed the game, I walked into the room, made mincemeat out of the boss, exited the level and celebrated with a victory can of Pepsi Max.

I wonder what I'll have to go through to finish the other four levels I have left to go.

My worst luck is pre-ordering Splinter Cell: Conviction ages ago, and having it be delayed 3670 times...

I bought DMC3 two weeks ago for eight bucks. I go into gamestop yesterday to return God of war 2 and what do I find? DMC3 special edition only ONE DOLLAR MORE, story of my motherfunking life.
I bought Devil May Cry 3 probably a month after it's release.

A few months later, I see the special edition version. Naturally, I bought it.

my worst luck in gaming is me and my buddy where playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for the gamecube. we both desided to play the game as the human charecters (Sword and sheild) and we had a bit of a tough time, sence my friend was one of those FPS twichers that charged in head first all the time, where i, on the other hand, had to use my sword and magic to keep us going, well, we made it to the end of the game, beat every, singel, boss in the whole game, 100 persent, and we hit the final boss, and the game fucking froze! we almost broke owr GBAs in anger.

I was playing Gran Turismo 4, an endurance race (You know, those who last 12 and 24 hours).
So I took the Nürburgring 12h race. After 11 hours of driving, though with a fairly big amount of pauses to stretch out, there was a power outage.

[SUB]Didn't play that game for about a year then.[/SUB]

I find it more annoying that I have to choose between going through a lot of havoc if I want to order the Collector's Edition of Spinter Cell: Conviction just to get the additional mode, the additional skin and the additional three weapons, I need to go through the bother of trying to get a GAME card and then paying an extra £30. I don't even want the figurine or the art book.

The only special edition packs (besides the special edition pack that, to my knowledge, only contains a BETA to something I lack any interest in) besides that offer a torch as the special addition.

When Media Play was going out of business me and a friend went to go pick up some games for cheap. On the way home my friend opened my game only to find that their was no disk inside the case. Turns out one of the employees cut the seal, took the disk, put the security device on it, and put it on the shelves. I was pissed, but relived when they just gave me a new copy, this time sealed.

The only bad luck I've had as a gamer has been that I had to send my Wii in to have it fixed to play Smash Bros, since Smash was a dual layer disc or whatever, and my launch Wii wasn't capable of handling it.

All the hype and I couldn't even play the game for an additional 2 weeks. /sigh
