Worst methods of torture?

Jumping on the coattails here of the 'worst ways to die thread', although to be fair I also have another reason, a valid one, for this thread. That is, I have a story with a character who's meant to be a psycho ***** (she kills several people including her own mother, though admittedly her mother was about to kill her, she enjoys torture and is something of a sadist, she's in love with her own brother, etc.). And in a few scenes, she tortures various opposing characters, and I'd like to write this in without it seeming a bit too cliche or using methods we've already seen every other character do in every TV show/book/film since waterboarding became popular.

So, what are your worst ideas to torture someone, ideally keeping them alive as long as possible? One I heard about once was 'Slow slicing'. Long story short, it involves cutting someone with a sharp knife, a thousand times, slowly and deliberately removing all their flesh while they're still alive. And this was a real method of torture, and sometimes of execution. Used in China, it wasn't abolished until 1905. I figured that could easily come into my story at some point, maybe with a brief explanation by the psycho girl on what it involves.

So yeah, there we go, any more ideas would be very welcome. Though I do ask that anything particularly gory and gruesome is posted in spoilers. I don't really want this thread locked by the mods, after all...

Rats eating a person alive, force a person to run in a giant hamster wheel lined with barbed/razor wire, skinning a person alive and rolling him in salt. I could go on, it's too easy (especially with supposed horror movies, that are only gruesome giving me ideas). Oh and who can forget the classic fingernail torture!!!

My firm opinion is that psychological torture is the best. Keep whoever you're torturing awake. Don't let them sleep. That's the entire torture. First few days, it might not be bothersome, but as the slowly slip into insanity, you can suggest things to them, make them believe something is happening. Or Chinese Water torture. Mostly because its Italian.

I remember reading about a form of torture involving two boats, and a lot of honey.

You'd (forcefully if necessary) feed a person a lot of milk and honey. Then, you would sandwich the person naked in the middle of the boats, after smearing him with even more honey. Finally, you leave the double boat human sandwich in a very swampy area. The honey would attract insects, and the stuff he ate would give him diarrhea, which would attract more insects. The boats made it so he couldn't reach his body to swat them away or anything. He would die either of bug bites, starvation or shock.

Sleep deprivation + Ayahuasca + Amphetamines = One crazy fellow. Once you have that base line laid down you can begin the mind and body screwing. The sky's the limit really. Cutting out their eyelids, rectal sealing, demonic chanting, the list goes on.
But yeah, couple a powerful hallucinogen(Especially one that causes immense physical discomfort), a week of no sleep, and strong stimulants before you begin your foray into human pain, suffering, and insanity.

removing the teeth without anesthetic. teeth make cracking sounds that resound in the person's skull. *shudder*
oh my dad likes the idea of plucking all the hair on a persons body one at a time. particularly the hair in the groin and ass area. this idea makes me laugh every time because it would hurt like a *****, but its not the kind you would see in the movies xD

I once heard about a kind of really sick torture involving bleach and urine and is mostly used on women.

You tie a person up hanging over a vat of bleach and give them drinks (usually just water) to keep their thirst sated. When they suddenly have to urinate, it drips down into the bleach.

For those of you who don't know, when you mix bleach and urine, it creates chlorine gas, which is highly toxic and will often kill people from the inside-out in the worst ways imagineable. It's usually survivable at first, but it of course makes it into a psychological torture as well because it causes the victim to refrain from urinating, knowing the second their bladder releases they're going to get worse and worse and eventually die by literally having their lungs dissolve from the inside-out.

Get a room with a door on either end. Run electrified razor wire across the room like you see lasers in those cheesy spy movies. Leave a safe space on each side. Insert victim in one end. Every so often, provide food on the other end. Victim has to crawl through the razor wire trap to get to food. As they get close, open the door. Remove food. Replace on the other end. Sometimes let them eat, so as to avoid starvation. As one get hungrier, they get sloppier. Razor wire starts getting blood. Low voltage electricity causes little jumps. Into more wire. Probably lethal.

Remove victim's clothing. Insert pipe into rear opening. Insert barbed wire into pipe. Remove pipe, leaving barbed wire in place. Pull. For bonus points, coat all flat surfaces in salt.

Again, start with naked victim (male). Place both hands into gloves with sandpaper facing out on all sides. Make sure the gloves are not removable. Place in room with large television screens (probably behind some kind of protective casing) running adult content 24/7. Lace all food/drink with Viagra/aphrodisiacs. Wait.

Tie them to a bench, with their leg propped up in the air. Set the persons foot on fire with some sort of flammable liquid. Coat it liberally, so it may run downwards towards the soft skin on their leg, and crotch.

See, pain can be endured, but permanent damage is a serious motivator.

Ask your victim what their favorite song is, then play it... Over and over again for days then weeks on end...

But that's if your main character has plenty of time on their hands, or maybe this event could be taking place over the arc of the story, with the periodic check-ups on your intended victim throughout the story, maybe with the desired result being displayed near the end of your story...

The last time I saw a thread like this it ended up closing, the closing moderator commenting on how disgusting that thread was, or something along those lines. I'm sure we've all got sick ideas, and we are all limited by only our imaginations.

I question the purpose of such a thread though. I had an answer the last time involving teeth and snips, but I think I'll just leave these thoughts and see my way out.

well, there was one method of torture back in the middle ages, 'm not gonna get into it, but suffice it to say that you were tied to a mechanism and the more you moved, the more a sharp piece of wood would creep to your poop-shoot until you get a human shish-kebab

you can always put a nail into a man's penis, that'll make some people cross their legs, or go Casino Royale, and wail on the nuts.
