Oh, in that case. The current war in Afghanistan. History has proved, that you will never, ever defeat the Afghanis (Or the Irish, Finnish or Vietnamese) so why even fucking try?
The Chinese have conquered Vietnam ridiculous amounts of time. Sometimes random warlords would lay waste to it for no reason other than boredom. Also the British conquered Ireland, and beat the Spanish and Irish together once.

Battle of Karánsebes. It was a self inflicted defeat by the Austrians trying to fight the Turks. It didn't end so well.

Pretty sure it was The Battle of the Somme in the Great War. More than 1 million people died in the space of like 5 months. Thats gotta be up there with the nastiest military operations ever.

It also was the scene for the most bloody day in British combat history. We had 57,470 casualties (dead/wounded/missing) in one day! Yes, I say again, 57,470 men killed or wounded in ONE DAY

Info thanks to wiki/ my WW uni lecturer :p
I find it odd that I had pulled up wikipedia, ready to quote the same figures for the same battle...

And your Username is Wadders.

Which is also my nickname, as my last name is Wadsworth.

I happen to live in Britain.

Surely Alexander the Great, the Battle of Gaugamela. It led to the fall of the Persian empire.

Or the Battle of Cannae were Hannibal bumfucked the Romans.

Possibly the Battle of Carrhae. Were the Romans were decimated by the Parthians.

We need to form some sort of League of Extraordinary Wadders, a traipse the internet solving crimes and playing MW2.

Failing that, we can comfortably bask in the knowledge that there are only a select few Wadders in the world, obviously destined to rule the world.

I agree with this. Especially given it was completely unnecessary and undertaken because orders had been misunderstood.

The Irish? I don't think anybody has gone to war with the Irish. Not in modern history at least.

(Sorry about my last post, forgot to quote.) The Irish? I don't think anyone has gone to with the Irish. Not in modern history at least. I would say that the worst battle was the battle of the Somme. So many men lost.

The war of 1812. We didn't even solve the main problem we started the damn thing over!
Actually it did, the Brits stopped press-ganging your sailors and generally decided to leave you alone. quote]

That officially stopped before the war started and was no longer needed after the defeat of Napoleon, but it took several months for news of this to reach the US from London.
