Hahahahaha.

Even if that was true about the Halo community at large, you can easily votekick and voteban idiots in CSS.
Well, I'm mostly into Big Team gametypes and social playlists so you may have a point. Halo 3 does have a way to counter-act team-killing, if killed by a teammate you can either boot him or forgive him.

For me, it's when I legitimately sniped (ie. not camping) someone online (forget which game now) with my first shot. He then spent the rest of the game just going for me.
There was an entire map of people, and he solely targetted me...

Call of Duty, Halo, Counter Strike, we see it all the time.
Annoying pricks who like to take people out in the most agonizingly easy but terrifyingly angering ways.
Obviously, I've experienced it myself, especially in Halo, with the camping and hiding followed by butterflying, or in Call of Duty, where the annoying lil buggers will sit in near unreachable spots and snipe.
Do you have any experiences you would like to vent about?
Both the "luck-kicking you in the nuts" or the "Stupid annoying skill-less buggers with guns" type.
In lan Club at school, five (of six) members of the opposing team were camping on COD4, on ambush, all that really happened was:
1. Everyone reorientates themselves briefly
2. Marines find campspots
3. Opforce run from side to side, being killed by them camping and killing them, inside the very, camper friendly level design
4. Eventually, we start getting UAVs and wisen up and kill them

Maybe next time everyone will be a bit more active

I once played a small match in COD4 (console) and someone was using a G3 with double tap and what must have been a modded controller, as he was firing it about as fast as an M4 or really any automatic gun...and it was perfectly obvious since I watched him kill me like that about 5 or 6 times on Killcam. Pissed me off, but that's what I get for not playing hardcore mode for once in like 2 months.

First:
Sniper's are not automatically campers.
Let me make this easy.
Sniper =/= camper.
A camper is anyone who sits in the same place farming kills. In fact the most common campers seem to me to be vehicle and explosive campers. But the latter can be solved by turning friendly fire on.

Anyway, my moment is this:
I spend the whole round on Suez in 2142 in the gunship controlling the skies (yes, I gloat.) with this fantastic gunner, when we get a message in chat from the admin saying 'stop cheating'.

It happens often, and it's really annoying. It's easy to fly upside down!

When I see a guy with a P90 run up behind my team's sniper in COD4. I have UAV Jammer and an M1014. I unload two shots into the cheating scum, another two, then a full clip from a Desert Eagle. He turns round, immeadiate Headshot. That made me quite cross. I quit the game.
0.o 4 shoutgun shells and 7 eagle rounds should drop anything in cod4. I don't understand. also uav jammers won't hide you on radar if your shooting. It only blocks u on uav map scans from other teams. Shame you cried abotu a freak accident and quit one of the best fps' made in a long time over it...

Yeah, it happens.
However, usually the admin doesn't get involved.
Sometimes people just get angry at the good players and insist to themselves that they're cheating.
And then the reporting and pissing and moaning begins.

Oh c'mon independent guys are the closest thing we have to purity in the gaming industry.
Purity? You said it yourself: gaming INDUSTRY. It's made to make money, and I spend money on this and get a good time out of it. I don't understand what you mean by 'purity'.

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 on the Wii. I've never heard of a game where you can unload a full Thompson clip into another guy, then promtly use your pistol, only to find out the only weapon that has any fucking usefulness are the grenades.

GOD.

The elitist Quake community; since they are so small in numbers and always crying about their game never making it as the main game in any major tournament like CPL (rest in peace).

Now that's just plain ignorance. The Quake III community doesn't give a shit if Q3 isn't mainstream. I guess the only Quake players who fall in your category are a couple of CTF players.

Most Quake players understand that the Quake community isn't very mainstream friendly. By the time gaming became more mainstream (Basically when CPL moved to CS over Q3CTF) the Quake players were playing the game on a level that made it nearly impossible for a new player to join in on the action.

CPL went down under because they didn't pay a few of their winning competitors. Probably didn't have the money to do it.

I played a fair amount of CS, but mostly before it went retail. At that time it wasn't so bad really, but when 1.1 came out it started to attract a lot more younger players, and we all know what that resulted in.

Thank you for the following experience, Fallout 3.

Enter VATS. See target. You've got a pretty good chance to hit with your assault rifle. You could unload half a clip into their head before they knew what's what. Line up shots. Fire.

Watch helplessly as your character unloads all the rounds into the wall you are hiding behind.

GOD.
I swear to god that was the most annoying shit ever! My nerd rage meter went so high I wasn't even mad at the game for wasting all of my ammo like that.

Umm, that wasn't a "freak accident", that was a cheater. And yeah, cheating is a reason to quit.

My first year in Quake was spent using wasd for walking and the numpad for aiming.

Yeah, that was pretty horrible.

On Halo 2 when I was in a Warthog on Blood Gulch/Coauglation(sp?) I was driving towards the center of the map when I see a ghost trying to run over a teammate so I think lets run the Ghost over I drive towards it and just when my teamate is about to board it I ram the ghost but it doesnt explode and I push into my teammate which results in him getting crushed and me getting chased and killed.

Worst moment in FPS history: Halo: C.E.

Now don't get me wrong, the game itself is good, but the problem is it started the whole regenerating health/space marine craze.

Regenerating health, sure. But space marines? We've had space marines since the original Doom. Starsiege: Tribes, Quake and its sequels, Dark Forces, Marathon, Unreal, space marines up the wazoo. Halo is just one game in a huge list of games.

my GOD those guys need to burn in the deepest reaches of hell don't they? Same with HAX.

Well, that maybe on PC, on console sniping is more difficult.
urprobablyright said:
Not really. Just moving around a joystick till, just like with computers, someone comes in front of your reticule and instead of a mouse button you're pressing an ergonomically placed trigger. It's easier.
sniping is not easy, and you are retarded, the majority of people in online fps games (like cod4) know all the sniping spots, you have to waste people and move, or you get murdered. I would prefer hitting a moving target up close than far away, because you don't have to deal with recoil and time between shots if you miss, you only have to deal with reloading inbetween mowing them down if you are good enough.

The moment FPS's went online.

Cheating people. People who don't do anything besides that certain game. Whining people. Crying people. Shouting people. 12 year olds trying to be/sound mature. Voice chat in general. For someone who likes to play the occasional online game, the FPS scene isn't a fun place to be. Except the sniper-only servers on COD1. Yes, part 1.
