I'm sticking with Counter Strike. I really don't want to have to go into detail, but here's a few exempts:

Today, 2 arabic men were having a shouting match over their mics, prompting the 12 year old admin to oh-so-cleverly say "We don't welcome terrorists in our server, you cocksuckers!". The 2 arabic men promptly retaliated, saying that Allah's seif was upon the infidel flesh, prompting a gigantic firestorm that probably resulted in 20 poor souls being damned to hell.

While playing a Jailbreak mod, I was instantly muted once I spoke a single word. The admin said he hates "wops like me" and told me to go and drink hair gel and die. So, Italians are the new target on the internet?

My computer was infected with a virus from a servers MOTD.

I've received several death threats from 6-year olds, one of which happened to be my younger brothers friend who lives next door. That was certainly a humbling experience for him.

While playing in a zombie survival mod, a 24-year-old man child had an open mic and everyone could overhear him shouting at his mom to get him McDonalds, and finally BEATING HIS DOG out of frustration. What an evil asshole.

So tell me, what is the WORST multiplayer game ever?

inb4 all CoD games after 4.

But I have to agree with Counter Strike. It's a magnet for wannabe MLG douchebags, and there's basically no control within the community. Complete fucking anarchy.

Probably Runescape... Such a terrible community, and the reason people play it is convenience, and that they don't realise there are better games out there

Shouldn't this thread be called the worst multiplayer community ever? Or 'who's the biggest jizzkidney of a person you've ever met online?'

The only multiplayer game I really play online is COD or Halo, and since I never use a mic I don't tend to get screamed at. Occasionally someone will send me a message questioning my sexual orientation but that's mostly hilarious, and then I can have petty revenge by just submitting a negative review about them giving the reason 'they lack skill'

Counter Strike players just seem angry all the time. I don't know what it is about that game, but it must make people bitter about their lives.

Well, since I believe that we're talking about social experience...

World of Warcraft is a good example of what not-to-do scenarios. Why? Pvp mostly consist of bitching, whining, vulgarity, and pure unsportsmanlike behavior overall. I speak of pub games of course. I generally play on a friends account to help him farm honor, so picking up a group to pvp with seems unlikely and a general waste of time since they want you to be set on certain times and commit.

Overall, it's a terrible experience when trying to deal with frustrated assholes.

HoN (Heroes of Newerth)

I played 2 games and was either completely shunned or slammed for sucking. It was my first time playing and everyone treated me like I've played for years and never improved. The community is a shitstorm (no offense to those who actually mean well).

This is about Multiplayer communities, in which TF2's has dropped radically since F2P went live.

OT: Definitely DotA-type games such as League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth. Also, as many have stated previously, Counter-Strike.

Not many multiplayer games are bad, their communities just make it seem that way.

The Medal of Honour reboot's online, while fun, is seriously brutal. As I play it I can hear the level designers cackle with evil laughter.

Great fun once you get into it, but by God you need some serious patience if you do.

Sometimes you can get a good server, generally the backwater ones, but aye, they are real gems in a sea of excrement community wise. And PvP is appalling (community wise) so I stayed away from there. But who am I to complain, my server it's own god damn radio show.

OT: I'll go with counterstrike too. I've tried it many times, and I've always been disappointed by people, and the game really. But that's my preferences clashing, not the game being bad.

As a game?
Probably Too Human.

As a community?
I'm going to throw my hat in at Counter-Strike as well.
