I'm going to go with two unorthodox picks. Both communities aren't particularly disgusting, sickening or insane like 4chan and the like, but instead are mired in their own filth, basically in a circle-jerk of praising each other's no effort garbage. They are both (excluding a minority on one of them) stuck in their own little worlds, unable to see what talent less hacks they are.
I'm talking of course, about DeviantArt and the Go!Animate forums.
DeviantArt at least contains some decent artists, making it less saddening then Go!Animate, but for the love of god, the absolutely awful anime cat drawings done by legions of 13 year olds with no artistic talent whatsoever, being praised by their ilk and sympathetic adults who are either blind or unable to tell someone the truth alike just makes the site absolutely sad sometimes. And the fact that they will many times vehemently attack anyone who even offers the slightest bit of constructive criticism just makes you realize what ego trips many of these people are on.
And then, we get to Go!Animate. I only went to this forum for a few paltry minutes to feed my morbid curiosity. After seeing a few god-awful Go!Animate vids pop up on youtube, I wanted to see the forums of this site, expecting a trainwreck of trolls, spammers and preteen idiots sticking up for the program.
If you have no experience with Go!Animate (feel lucky) then here is a clip from youtube:

Most Go!Animate videos seem to follow this formula. Children with no animation expreience who've watched one too many family guy episodes decides to try their hand at animating. They could learn how to actually animate, but as someone who has done quite a bit, I can tell you it requires skill, patience, a creative mind, and of course, a certain degree of artistic talent (Something I happen to have a serious lack of, which is why my 'quite a bit' won't ever become a career). Or they could go this route. Plug a couple of poorly drawn stock characters onto a poorly drawn, stock background, throw a few lines of dialogue (voiced of course by a variety of stilted, robotic Microsoft Sam wannabes), and shove it together. It requires no skill, no talent and of course no money or ideas. The majority of videos are family guy ripoffs with poor grammar and no laughs to be had. With that in mind, we return to the forums.
Now, one who stumbled unto these forums unwittingly might think nothing of them. It is when you actually look at the product these people are using (and yes, to gain bonus features, you need to RENT the Go!Plus package, which costs up to $60 per year.) you feel sorry for them. They could be spending their time actually learning to animate, a highly marketable skill which, despite taking time, dedication and energy is an incredibly powerful artistic tool. Go!Animate is basically a ripoff, an easy route for people who don't want to do it properly. Now, if the product was geared towards children as a totally free, intro to animation, I could care less. But the people on the forums are pre-teens, teens, and, inexplicably, adults, pumping out low effort animation after low-effort animation, praising every video they see, trying to push their own series. The whole community seems stuck in their own world, insulated and isolated from the rest of the internet.
And of course being ripped off.
For the love of god, it costs MONEY to download the animation you made onto your own computer, and if you don't upgrade, it also costs money to upload your video to youtube!
