As mentioned in my previous "oh please save me from vista, etc." thread, I loath the Thief Collection by Mastertronic. It takes skill to take a good game render it nearly or entirely unplayable, or plagued by vicious load times like, say, Orange Box on the PS3. Who else has seen a game they loved or had hope for ruined by third party software demons?

I would add the PC ports of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 - not only are they almost unplayable on today's machines (well, 2 works with extreme technical jiggery-pokery, but 1 can only be run in software mode, which adds oh so many more problems) but feature inspired additions such as playing the game in 1st person mode... which I seem to remember doesn't allow you to pick up items!
Oh, and the first time I played MGS2 I didn't map the keys in a great way, so was unable to aim to defuse bombs and shoot at the same time. >_<
Suppose this means I really should buy a playstation.

There's absolutely no discussion for me on this: Knights of the Old Republic. Incredibly good game, incredibly terrible port. It's filled with enough crippling bugs that make it just a hairs breadth away from "Unplayable", but after you spend about 4 days solid of google-fu...Amazing game.

Call of Duty WaW is one of my favorite games simply because of the ridiculously addictive Nazi Zombies mini-game.

The Wii port of WaW has no co-op or Nazi Zombies, rendering it a pretty pointless buy for full price.

Probably TF2 for the xbox 360 and the PS3, since there's no updates to the games.
THIS. And along those lines, the PS3 version is worse FOR NO REASON, because supposedly the head of Valve hates the console. The ps3 version has no autosave while the 360 ver does, and the ps3 ver of Team Fortress 2 is the worst version on all 3 systems.

Railroad Tycoon 2 got ported to the PlayStation, whereupon it proved definitively that the series doesn't belong on consoles.

The Orange Box. Portal on the 360 is just awful, it's like Chell is running on sticks of butter in an ice rink. And I tried to enjoy Half-Life, I really did, but it seems like inertia didn't apply to the rules of Valve ports. I don't even use my computer for gaming, but if I ever try another Valve FPS, it will be on my Mac.

I'm fairly certain that EA did the PS3 port and Valve just said "lol k".

Devil May Cry on PC
MW2 for PC
GTA4 for PC
Saints Row 2 for PC
Resident Evil 4 for PC (I never played it but it apparently didnt support the mouse)
Guitar Hero 3 on PC (never saw anywhere where you can buy a guitar for it)
MGS on PC

Pretty much anything made by Ubisoft or Activisions usually pretty shitty on PC these days.

???

I didn't think so at all. I played the Xbox version of HL2, the 360 version AND the PC version and none of them felt all that different. My first time playing Portal was on the 360, then I DLed it for free a few months back. Again, same game IMO.

Civilisation II on the PS1. By the middle of the modern era it would take 5 or 6 minutes to make the other nations' moves. I read a lot of books when I was playing that game.
