Rocksa (sorry for responding this way the quoting was a bit much).

To be honest I think Desert Punk existed largely to tell a specific story about the "Punk" and his ups and downs. Through the entire series your sort of expecting him to turn around and become something of a hero, but he never really does, and actually becomes a villain.

Truthfully, the central conflicts involved in the backround of that series were beyond the scope of anyone involved to really resolve. The story was extremely character-centric and it pretty much got to where it was going.

Now, it CAN be said that it was depressing since our friend "The Ghost Of The Desert" starts out as a perverted, reprehensible, money grubbing scumbag... and pretty much ends
up the same exact way, but his involvement does wind up inspiring a lot of people to become heroes even if he himself not only remains a villain, but moves up the rung a few spaces. :)

Just not that kind of story, especially seeing as the entire thing is basically a comedy/post apocolyptic satire, and what a sleaze he is, is the constant punchline. :p

A "happy" ending would have involved someone putting a bullet between his eyes, but that wouldn't have really fit the series.

Firefly. Only 11 episodes of 14 aired, and the 14th episode was just when things were starting to get really good!! Sucks.
It had no finale, it was sort of wrapped up by the movie, but it wasn't quite the same.
Yeah I knew that, which is why it was the worst finale in my mind, it was a non-finale, which is lame.

The manga finally finished a few months ago. Good ending, tying up all the loose ends, at least in my opinion.

Futurama...ending with a musical!?! Possibly the worst episode of all. Love the show, especially the "Another classic Sci-Fi show, cancelled before its time" in the Star Trek episode of the final season.
Futurama's ending made me MAD!!! Mostly because it ended. Best animated series imho.

I'm the only person who liked it, though as an episode and not as a finale. It was a good finale for what they could do. They shouldn't have cancelled it.

And only one person mentioned Evangelion. Thought that would have been all over the place.

Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Sure, humanity is saved from the Fire Lord and what not, but what I want to know is...
What happened to Zuko's mother!?!?
I swear I heard somewhere that they've announced two telemovies, just so you know. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

Here's to hoping that they'll have something to do with both Koh the Face Stealer (who got less than 3 minutes of screen time, but was supposed to be an important character) and Zuko's Mum.

And what else was bad about the finale? I thought everything about it was pure, unadultered awesome.

Sorry for taking this to anime but...
...GANTZ!
The series was amazing, fast phasing but the ending just left me with a big 'Wait, WHAT?'

Farscape. Sure, the movie did offer some closer but it felt like it should have had another season. I mean, they introduced a character (Which I think you were meant to get attached to, he was innocent and all that) and he died even before it was halfway through...

Nobody has written anything about the Pokemon finales?

"I caught all these incredibly strong Pokemon, now I'm going to leave them behind and go on another adventure with nothing but Pikachu, another girl protagonist, and the stalker Brock!"
Yeah, I always wondered why Brock is still around.
Dare I say that Brock is meant to be the cockblock. Without him it would have been a guy and a girl out on a journey... And that just screams romantic interest.

The Sopranos. Where it cut to black in mid sent-
Yeah, when I heard about that, it totally killed my interest in seeing the show. What a cheap and crappy ending.
It's not as bad as it seems at first. It fits to a philosophy mentioned within the series. And it gets more plausible when you look at all characters in the last scene.

Star Trek: Voyager

Long dramatic lead up to a borg sphere bursting out of a transwarp conduit to confront a fleet of federation starships, and *poof* it explodes and reveals Voyager, safe and sound in the alpha quadrant. No climactic battle or anything. They just fall into formation with the fleet and Janeway gives the order "Set a course, for home."

No afterparty, no follow-ups, no homecoming. Just Voyager flying towards Earth, fade to black.
Say what? That's not how it ended - A borg ship appeared, the federation tensed up, then Voyager burst out from inside it, destroying it in the process.

Worst series finale: Farscape
