Yeah man we went to see Muse at Wembley near the end of last year, and they had Lily Allen as their main support... Lily fucking Allen! Not only is she shit, but she is nothing like Muse, not of the same genre, not remotely similar. The only relation there is that they're both two British acts. Great. Let's get Napalm Death to support Muse then. Fucking hell.

The worst part was we found out that Biffy Clyro were supporting the next night. See that makes sense! Awesome band, similar music. Lateral.
That reminds me of the tour U2 did of Australia, with advertisements everywhere loudly proclaiming that their show would feature the opening act of...Kanye West...

Yeah, say what you will about either one of them and their music, but I don't see the connection. Well, except for the fact that Bono and Kanye both have huge egos and can't shut up abo--oh, now I get it. That makes sense now.
A once in a lifetime opportunity to see the two absolute, unequivocally greatest musicians that ever have, or ever shall be? I can't believe I missed it.
Shameful admission time: I was actually there. And it was great. I loved it, but I cannot see the connection between Kanye and U2.

My vote for the worst example of horrible booking ever goes to Avril Lavigne covering Metallica at that MTV Icon tribute thing. Avril Lavigne. Covering Metallica. At a concert. To honour their music. Really?
Pah, you think that was bad... Look what she did to System of a Down!

I didn't get past 14 seconds. And I though I couldn't hate her more for that stupid Girlfriend song that clogged the radio.
I got to about 30 seconds, somehow, but that is undoubtedly the worst cover I have ever heard! I wonder how long it'll take for my ears to recover...?

Ahh no way! It seems we are cut from different threads of the musical cloth, friend. No matter, the tapestry of life would be awfully dull were it woven with one alone. But yeah there is no connection, despite the inflamed prostate, I mean, ego.

Combined together, that little bastard's going to get booed right the fuck out of Atlanta.
BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Wow. That's just...wow.

Why do I get the feeling this is either going to end with him getting chokeslammed by the Undertaker...or with him getting a guest track on a John Cena rap album?
I want a kid to run out there and choke slam him...

Lea Michele was actually fairly popular on broadway before Glee, and is a fantastic singer. (never seen Glee, myself)

I've never been to a concert (music's not really my thing) though on TV Special Guest Stars I'd say former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair being on The Simpsons was a bit odd. It was in the middle of the Iraq war as well.

Oh! A GOOD, but bizarre, special musical guest: Queen Guitarist Brian May at the Queen's Jubilee

<youtube=5hIE0vKQf6w>

They need to put him in that re-edit of The King's Speech

EDIT: OH I've thought of one. Leona Lewis singing Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta' Love" at the end of the Beijing Olympics. WHY?!

Or just a random bunch of syllables.

If I didn't have enough reason to dislike Avril Lavigne. I think this is the worst cover version of any song I have ever heard.

That wasn't too bad actually, ok she isn't even comparable to Robert Plant but at least Jimmy Page fired off a nice solo.

He did, but I mean what a strange choice of both song and singer. To be honest after the amazing Chinese closing ceremony London's one looked a bit naff.

Sounds like she is openly ridiculing the song, doesn't it?
Didn't even bother learning the lyrics properly.

I'm disappointed. Very disappointed.
Then again, it's Avril Lavigne - what do you expect?

Avril should never scream. Ever.

That's ignoring the fact that she was completely illegible.

We had a Popidol show here too (renamed Idols) and the producers were cruel enough to put the worst contestants from the audition rounds together and let them 'sing' in front of a full football stadium right before a league match. It was absolutely horrific. And there's even footage of it!

(Even with the dodgy subtitles you should be able to make sense of it).
NO NO NO, we all agreed to NEVER take that out of the vault!
Lifes are at stake.....or ears.

Okay, so, if you haven't heard yet, apparently Lea Michele, aka Rachel from Glee, is going to be singing at the Superbowl, presumably to cross-promote the Glee Superbowl episode airing straight after. No lie, the first thought that popped into my head was, "Ha! She is going to get booed so hard," because, really, can you think of anyone less appropriate or less related to the Superbowl than freaking Glee; a show that characterises cheerleaders and football players as colossal jerks and idiots?

This immediately brought me to flashbacks of a couple of years ago, when I was at a State Of Origin match (it's like the most important rugby league event in Australia) and the guy who they brought out was none other than Guy Sebastian. If you don't know, he's this weedy pop singer who won Australian Idol, had his career flame out for several years and nobody likes him. Needless to say, the entire stadium booed. Nobody wanted this guy singing the national anthem. He had nothing to do with the event!

So, I ask you, have you ever seen a performer at some kind of event or concert or whatever that just made you scratch your head and go, "Wha?"

My vote for the worst example of horrible booking ever goes to Avril Lavigne covering Metallica at that MTV Icon tribute thing. Avril Lavigne. Covering Metallica. At a concert. To honour their music. Really?
Considering they're booing someone for something other than singing talent I'd have to say glee probably got their characters right. Personally I love her singing, course I'm not the one to watch sport anyway, something about pretending you're winning even though it's the team down there that's doing all the work seems incredibly pretentious to me.

FUN FACT!
did you know that Jimi Hendrix originally opened for the Monkees? all of the teenage girls in the audience HATED his talent (not unlike teenager girls today, ala Justin Bieber) and Jimi Hendrix was booed so badly, he smashed his guitar and walked off stage.

I went to go and see The Jeffrey Lewis and Peter Stampfel Folk Band the other day, and the support was this band of eletric genre-defying noise. They joined what I presume were seperate songs together and there was 40 minutes of constant noise with the occasional shout. As "Folk Band" suggests, this wasn't really what anyone was expecting.

Terrible halftime shows are par for the course. Before boobgate, InSync and the Backstreet boys were par for the course. post boobgate, things seemed to be doing better, but it seems like the show is slipping back towards the teenybop crowds.
