I tried to smelt iron and mercury, but since mercury is liquid at room temperature, it was difficult.

Yeah can I get a word?
You can, but you'll have to buy a vowel.

OT: The worst thing I've ever smelled in my life was the anestesia they used when I went into surgery when I was, like, 5. Even today when I smell something remotely similar, I shudder.
May I have a proper word that describes the topic at hand, and you provide it?

Ooh, finally something where my chemistry degree can come in handy...
Let's see, how about ammonia vapour? That's pleasant, albeit not bad smelling. Although I remember an ochem lab involving 1,6 methylcyclohexene that smelled like death (though most cyclohexenes do have that effect). And piperidine wasn't exactly nice smelling either. Actually, I know more good smelling things than bad smelling ones...

Garbage in August. Where I live the temperature gets to about 100 F and the humidity gets to 100% so anything rots just about instantly.

I was in the theatre group back in high school, and the paint we used for backdrops and set pieces was without a doubt the worst thing I've ever smelled. I think it was "Iddings" paint, but we all called it cancer paint. Why we called it that depended on when you asked - sometimes it caused cancer, sometimes cancer was a preferable mode of death, sometimes cancer was a primary ingredient, along with damned souls and horse hooves. It smelled like diarrhea, but worse, and the stench got everywhere, out into the halls and into neighboring rooms. And once we touched it, the smell didn't leave our hands for days.

Did yall watch the Eye Phone Futurama last week? You remember the double headed goat? My dog had a similar experience. It came out both ends and it was awful.

Overcooked chicken. Our cafeteria at my High School left the oven and a chicken cooking over the weekend. The smell is indescribable.

Here you go, from some lame online dictionary

smell (sml)
v. smelled or smelt (smlt), smell·ing, smells
v.tr.

So you got it right after all.

OT: your mom Throw up from a drunk guy that I had to clean up as a busboy

When you work at a convenient store and you have to "book" all the broken/expired stuff off, the combined smell off all the trash is just egh

I'm very sensitive to smell, so vinegar takes the cake for me. The disgusting, rotting putrid cake baked with the souls of the damned.

Oh God.....vinegar....I wish I could fight a giant vinegar monster to erase that horrid scent from the Earth.

Terrible childhood memories with that stuff. I also have a phobia of salad.

Pungent aniseed makes me gag, though I have smelled worse aromas...some combinations of baby puke at work stank of ungodly things from Hades itself.

One time, I smelled a chemical in chemistry class that the teacher dared us to smell. Damn, it was horrible! I took a whiff of it and instantly recoiled. My head hurt for a while and then it eventually went away. My nose got a bit congested too. It had vinegar and some other liquid in it. The teacher said it wouldn't cause any harm but damn, it was still terrible.
