Likely Mewtwo in SSBM. Although very few unlockable characters seem to be worth it, in retrospect.

SSB: Roy, Ness(SSBB), Lucario, GAW. Seriously. Why Lucario?
Because he's a fucking demon if you get his damage percentage high enough. Seriously, grab the Smash ball with your damage around 150%, you will destroy everyone. My second most played character after Meta Knight
Furry.

Charade from Soul Caliber 2. Not sure if he's unlockable, since I never actually owned the game, but he/she still sucks.

Marth in SSBB...who cares? Also, why have three characters from Starfox with exactly the same final smash?

Also, did anybody ever use Ash, the incredibly gay (literally) unlockable boss in Bare Knuckle 3? I tried him once, and he sucked (No jump attack, his special attack was just his regular attack but in a flurry, no throws, couldn't use weapons...need I go on?).
It was "Streets of Rage 3" over here. We didn't have Ash but we did have Roo and Shiva. Shiva was freakin' awesome, apart from not being able to use weapons but still being able to pick them up if you stood on one and pressed "attack" by mistake (practically the only way you could realistically expect to die as Shiva was if you kept picking up and putting down a weapon accidentally) but Roo gets my vote for worst unlockable character anywhere. The only thing he could actually do was jump - his attacks were ridiculously low-ranged and low-powered.
I agree about Shiva, but it was called Streets of Rage 3 over here too in the UK. I just prefer the japanese version.
"Over here too"? Where do you think I'm posting from, Uzbekistan? ;)

I've never played the Japanese version but have heard that in many ways it's better.

Picho in melee because no reason to play him exists since pikacho is playable by default.

Sweet Tooth from TM2 comes to mind.

"Hey awesome, I unlocked Sweet Tooth...Wait, why does he play like a crappier version of Warthog?"

Oddjob.

Twisted Metal 2- arguably the best game in the series IMO (you just had to love driving around the world being able to blow almost EVERYTHING up!!) Nope, for some reason that ice cream truck did not get either an inspection or an upgrade.

Remember, the absolute #1 Goldeneye House Rule: "No Oddjob".
I remember my roommate in college spotting someone 9 points in a best of 10 (the other person was forced to play as Jaws, though)....he won on a 10-0 skunk in 1 hit kill mode.
Yep....even in slappers &*&^job's size advantage was huge.

i thought that julia from power stone 2 reall sucked. you had to beat the adventure mode with every one and all you get a person who is incredibly weak, doesn't really transform, and her special attack (she only has one, every one else has two) doesn't do any thing.

i have a few to name and i know most of them have bee King Dedede worst character ever i would kill myself with him every time. Some characters on games like dynasty warriors and samurai warriors because of their simularity to other charcters last but not least King tomery ff8 fun to watch but pointless

you sir, need to be burned at the stake you dirty filesharing communist! Marth was the best character in Melee, and even when he got gimped, he is one of the best characters in Brawl! SCUM!
SCUUUUUM!

Ahem. as you can see i love marth. I used to be unbeatable with him in melee, and im damn near unbeatable around my friends with him in brawl. I'll tell you who i am very much beatable with though...Bowser. I never really used him but my GOD did they gimp him something heinous in brawl. he is just such a bad character now.

crap, was he a starter character? because if he was, then ill go for Roy. He was just a fail version of marth in melee. How can you be stronger than marth, but slower and lighter?
Well, that was...harsh.
yeah my bad, i tend to do that if someone insults marth.

seriously man my W/L ratio with marth is ridiculous, and my friends are not bad at the game at all, not attempting to sound arrogant but just trying to prove a point, and plus he is upper/top tier i believe, him and falco were in brawl and i think they are still up there.

The whole idea of having unlockable characters in a fighting game is poor game design. I almost never touch the single player modes of fighting games, so I'd appreciate if I could just hop into the game with a buddy of mine and we can start beating the shit out of each other.

The singe-player modes are nice extras, but does anyone really buy these games for their riveting stories, cutscenes and single-player content in general? It seems Nintendo and Namco think these are the most important parts of the game (which explains the suck that is Soul Calibur III and IV).

Falco in SSBB, there really is NO reason for him to be in the game. He moves like Fox, attacks like Fox and has the same smash as Fox, he serves NO purpose. At least Wolf plays a little differently.
Yes and no. Falco throws his deflector instead of having it generate a field around him. He also falls faster and is, allegedly, stronger. You are right in saying that Wolf plays much differently than either of them though.
what in the crap are you talking about? Falco was slower, there was no way in hell falco is faster than fox. But he IS beter, thats for sure.
I said falls faster. i.e. he drops like a rock tied to a boulder when he's in the air. And he is not better. The last 10 people who have attempted to tell me that have promptly ate their words after a session :p
whoops didn't notice you said falls faster, i'll take that back. but there is no way in the blue fires of hell that fox is better ;-D and marth beats all >_<

but i dont think he a very character
pardon?
i think i was talking about Sonic in SSBB and it was supposed to say that i don't think he's a very good character to fight as. although he is very fast, he is really weak. some people may be able to use his moves more effectively than me, and go them if they can, but i prefer characters like Link, Ike, Pit, Samus, Captain Falcon, Wolf, Fox, Ganondorf and Zelda

cloud in final fantasy tactics. You get him on like the second to last level and he's incredibly weak.

Lizardman from SC2. You had to beat that game inside out to get him. And i mean beat EVERYTHING. He wasn't worth the effort, and you just felt like an idiot after getting him after hours and hours of wasted time mashing the x button.

He's actually middle tier.

He's better then the following (According to tier list):

24. Peach
25. Ike
26. Sheik
27. Lucas
28. Ness
29. Mario
30. Pokémon Trainer
31. Samus
32. Yoshi
33. Sonic
34. Jigglypuff
35. Ganondorf
36. Link
37. Captain Falcon
Most of these characters used to be the best in Melee, especially Captain Falcon. Sorry it's just Brawl makes my blood boil! Why they weakened these characters is beyond me, must be something to do with the wave dashing which I found awesome.

Worthless characters/unlocks (especially in fighting games) are there for one and one reason only: to prove your skill. That's why getting defeated by Dan in Street Fighter was an absolute humiliation (Super Taunt, anyone?).
