Wow, I loved the vehicles in Half-Life 2. I mean the physics engine really gets a work out when I was in the cars, running things over and dragging the wheels and whatnot.

5. GTA3, the Dodo. I think that thing was INTENTIONALLY hard to drive.
4. Grim Fandango, the Bone Wagon.
3. Half Life 2's airboat the first few minutes (I treat pressing left as turning the wheel left. Why do I move the wrong way when I reverse and press left?!)
2. Original Command and Conquer, the Harvester. You know why.

And the winner, on a technicality;
Fallout 3. ALL THE CARS ARE BROKEN. THESE ARE THE WORST CARS EVER.

You can shoot them to get the world's tiniest mushroom clouds. While it's true that they can't run, if they did, they would be nuclear-powered 50's muscle cars. Which would be the BEST CARS EVER.

I controlled the MAKO well. I'd say the driving in GoW2 sucked.
agreed, honestly i had no problems driving the MAKO, i loved how it could actually get up hills, if you gave it some grunt and didnt go ape shit with the jump thrusters.

As for GoW 2.... the driving level where you enter the mountain is my least favourite, the tank is so goddamn slow for such a long drive >.<

TO PUT AN END TO THIS MAKO HATING: It was shit on the xbox360 and bioware recognised this by FIXING it for the pc version and this is why bioware are a good games company. They actually listen to fans and fix what needs to be fixed.

I didn't have a problem with driving the MAKO, but shooting with the damn thing was a pain in the butt. You couldn't tell if you were going to hit a small hill in between you and the target or shoot over their heads!

The vehicles in HL2 were kind of annoying at first....I'll agree with that.

It goes way too fast and you can't steer it for anything.
Oh, that buggy is easy compared to driving in Alone in the Dark... the handling on that was horrible... dunno if it was because you have to pretend the wiimote and nunchuck were a steering wheel or just the game itself... and the VTOL from Crysis... that was a ***** to fly too...

I used to hate the Mako, but I got used to it...although there is a reason why I never got all those darn elements and ore deposits. <_< Those random worlds were pretty weak.

Anyway, as far as actually the worst vehicles in any game, I'm tempted to say just about all the cars in GTA:IV. All I had to do was nudge the analogue stick and the cars would spin out. Maybe I'm just being petty, but, seriously, after all the stuff you could do in a car in the other GTA games, to have them suddenly go so useless just screwed up so much of the game for me.

I genuinely had no problem with the mako. Thought it was pretty good and had the boost ability to allow it to jump/hover for a bit which was useful.

My vote goes to the black no.51 car from days of thunder on the amiga. What an annoying git he was to beat.

The MAKO in Mass Effect. I found the driving fine even though it does handle like a drunk person. The main problem was that you couldn't shoot up or down hills.
Yeah you could, you just had to zoom. Not that I blame you for not knowing that, I was halfway through my second playthrough before I realized you even could zoom.

I remember playing Enter the Matrix where the driving section must have had the worst driving physics ever implemented. They were clearly trying to go for something much more advanced but must have rushed it in time for the film release and they ended up just horribly broken.

Halo's warthog is horrible too... I mean the vehicle itself handles well in terms of acceleration, responsiveness, etc but why have a control scheme like that? You can't just look one way and drive another, why? It is such an idiosyncratic controls scheme to have acceleration dependent on which direction you are looking.

Similar general problem with the car in HL1 and Episode 2, so spite handling well driving with the WASD keys is just terrible and gamepad support I have found to be quite patchy plus you can't quickly switch from Mouse + KB to Gamepad and back without fiddling with the controller layout.
