I hated the Mako. I don't often say I hate things but I hated that thing. On the other hand I did like the Hammerhead.

I totally agree with everyone here who says the Mako. It's just so... hard to control. You can't steer it accurately, because when you turn the wheels, you have to move forward. No, it can't be like most games where turning the wheels turns the wheels and you have to apply gas, this has to turn and jerk forward.

The tank from Sly 2, basicaly you powered the left track with the left stick and the right track with the right stick, sounds simple but it really, really isnt.

And also everything from Jak 2 and 3.

That I do, that I do.

What was with that driving/shooting section before the final boss :|

The Peewee pocket bike from Saints Row 2. If you ever tried to turn in that thing it instantly ground to a halt. Since the physics in that game are total wank and they also obviously didn't spend any time on the bike at all since it was a pre-order exclusive the steering would lock to 90 degrees whenever you steered in either direction at any speed. Also doing wheelies and stuff often sends the bike flipping over backwards and getting stuck in the ground.

Dishonourable mention goes to this. [http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/images/2012/04/2012_Smart_ForTwo_1-585x350.jpg]

I adore the Jak games but can't remember the driving sections at all. I faintly remember nerd raging over a race but that's it.
Were they really that bad?

This is Halo right? Then I believe that the forklift would like to have a word with you... of course I guess you could say that it doesn't really count as a "Useful" vehicle that's bad per say, more like a "Joke" vehicle that's intentionally bad.
While I agree that the Forklift is an intentionally bad vehicle, I am forever in its debt by somehow getting me through this section on "The Pillar of Autumn" on Legendary that took me about an hour to complete.

Forklifts never die Jorge, they're just missing in action... *cries*

Mako from Mass Effect and every vehicle from Half-Life 2.

But the best? The Manta from Unreal Tournament 3 on PC controls beautifully.

The M35 Mako still handles better than anything in the godforsaken PC port of Saints Row 2 and it's more useful than the M-44 "i-can't-survive-a-shot-from-the-.22LR" Hammerhead.

I hate the Hammerhead from Mass Effect 2 so much. During that one mission with the tons of Geth in the ruins, it only takes a small amount of damage from the REGULAR GETH TROOPERS to make the damn thing explode. So you have to sit waaaay far back from all of the Geth so that they don't shoot you, squint your eyes and try and make out the vague black dots to shoot at. It's incredibly tedious and one of the worst designed levels in a game ever. The other levels with the Hammerhead aren't so bad considering there aren't any enemies, but I still loathe the Hammerhead with every last cell in my body.

The Hammerhead controls, and has a better weapon than the Mako, but its just too damn fragile, if it had the control and weapons of the Hammerhead, and the durability of the Mako, it would make the perfect vehicle

The Mongoose is an excelent vehicle. Sure everything you said about it's attributes was right but you left out the fact that nobody can hit you if you drive it the right way. It is an awesome flag grab vehicle and can out menuver almost anything in the game. I have taken down scorpion tanks with that little vehicle (and a buddy) simply because the tank couldn't get a good hit in on me, we didn't even have a power weapon like rockets or splazer, we had assault rifles and grenades. The wraith kill count I have with it is astronomical.
O RLY SIR? (Sorry)

Surprisingly I have gotten a few kills with the forklift. I was driving it around just for laughs and a grunt stuck me with a plasma grenade as I charged him with it. Ensuing explosion killed me and several grunts.
...
STILL COUNTS!

Any of the lorries in any GTA game. Damn it was a pain in the ass when those things came up in missions.

Also, the Atlas in ME3. Nothing specifically off with it, but it just felt wrong somehow.

Anything that weighs about 8 pounds: vehicles in HL2, Far Cry series, Crysis, GTA prior to IV, etc.

Those and the Shift Unleashed cars. Fuck that. In the ear.

The vehicles in GTA IV get a lot of hate for their controls. Personally I find them amazing because how realistic the physics work. Most of the cars handle exactly like the one's they're imitating in real life, and it takes real precision to properly drift and drive fast and take fast turns etc.
Plus doing stunts in that game is like having a whole other game to play.

As for the half life vehicles, yeah the controls are pretty unintuitive, but I didn't often find it hindering gameplay.

As for me, I found Gears of War 2's vehicles annoying. Particularly during the sequence where you have to drive across the breaking ice.

I guess it isn't technically a vehicle, but it is the closest I'll get for the majority of games I play.

The horse in Two Worlds. Jesus Christ, I've never seen more horrible controls in almost anything.

Did you ever invest points in the Riding skill?

Anyway... the Forklift from Halo: Reach was the BEST VEHICLE EVER! I beat the game with that thing. If I had a choice between Forklift and Scorpion or Warthog, I took the Forklift every time AND KICKED ASS WITH IT!
