Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Dragon Age 2's ending. They kept on making us think that this was an important story, and would show Hawk's rise to power, but in the end what do you accomplish?

You stop a psychopathic templar, who only became crazy because you went down into the Deep Roads in the first place and found the lyrium idol in the first place. You end up starting a war, no matter what side you choose. And then you get kicked out of the city you spent the entire game defending in the first place.

There's such an obvious sequel hook at the end, and there isn't even a proper epilogue like Origins.

It's not that big of a deal nowadays, but back in 2004 millions of gamers yelled at their TVs in frustration at Halo 2's cliffhanger ending.

Borderlands. Seriously, what were they thinking? I was loving the game until the final confrontation.

I really liked the game but the ending pretty much killed the game for me.
I have to agree that the ending was a letdown, but I felt the journey was more important than the destination for that game. Besides, the DLC expansions more than made up for it.

Fallout 3 before they fixed it. (the fact that they had to fix it is proof of its quality)
Ten posts in, but we got there.

The whole "main" story sucked tbh though.
Yea it was a little generic, but the stories behind the vaults and various other buildings in the area were fairly interesting though.

EVERY ASSASSINS CREED GAME EVAR (so far....)

EDIT: Oh, and Clive Barkers JERICHO.
I agree, AC Brotherhood's ending made me confused, disappointed, and pissed off all at the same time.

I just watched an albino get impaled on a plate of Calamari.

What do you think this is from?

Homefront.

The game took me about 2-3 hours, and then POINTLESS SACRIFICE *end*

Jeez, the sequel better be longer...That was ridiculous.

Bioshock 2, at the end, rapture would have been better off if you just did what you were there for and left

Over twenty replies and no one mentioned Halo 2 yet? Weird. But yeah, I will go with that. The game ends with MC walking into a room and saying "I am here to finish the fight"... and then it just turns black. I had thought my X-Box had crashed at first, but nope, that was the ending. And it sucked.

FFXIII was horrible. A final battle with a nonsense god in the nonsense plot. Then in the denoument all the characters just magically appear together in a field with ships taking some villagers down. That they were too lazy to design towns/society at all kinda made it impossible for the games plot to be meaningful. Far too few characters and locations for an RPG. Gran Pulse is a horrible place. In every other FF you explore a cohesive world, though it's understood that there's much more depth than you get to see. Like Midgar doesn't really have a population of 30 people, there's tons of other areas to it and millions of people. But with FFXIII you barely scratch the surface of the world. You run through a couple of towns and see a couple of things in cutscenes, but it's pretty much like any linear western game. With I-XII you felt like you'd seen a whole alien world, with FFXIII you feel like you saw as much as you see of Earth in a call of duty game. There were parts where you could see interesting things in the background but all you could do was stay on the straight path. They really need to learn a bit about level design from western games like Rockstar/Bethesda.

But that said, it's far from the worst ending in a game, most games have really shit endings. The only game I can think of with a satisfying ending was Heavy Rain. Even amongst my favourite games the endings are anticlimactic and I'm just sad that the game is over and don't particularly care about the plot. And movies and tv shows too very rarely have great endings. Books do though, it's strange...

Alan Wake is the worst ending I've ever experienced, but horror games always have terrible endings.

XIII. The story was great, the graphics made it feel like a comic book, the gameplay was a little "been there, done that" while entertaining. The ending... "Who tried to kill kill me? Wait YOU? Nah." That's pretty much it. Just ends, right there.

Resident Evil 4. Not for the actual ending but the flame war that erupted against Leon. Yes, he turned down Ashley, but after all the headache you went through with her, you telling me you'd take her offer? not to mention she's the daughter of Leon's boss. Instead, you know what he did? He hit on a woman his age right after he turns Ashley down. Damn flamers.

Also, the edning to XIII, not the final fantasy game. The first person shooter from ubisoft. You go through this whole consperacy and uncover a plot by the vice president and then. . . . nothing. No sequel, so resolution, the charcter get's caught, the game ends.

Fable 3 left me very disappointed.

Halo 2 still ticks me off for it's pointless cliffhanger.

And Oblivion...seriously, Bethesda! WHAT THE HELL?!

The 3rd birthday

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE ENDING. They basically lead you on with the hope that at the end you will be revealed all the mysteries with the game's plot and will be left satisfied. NOPE. They basically just create one HUGEASS plothole and expect you to take it and leave.

Is that sarcasm or some new rumor floating around? They said at one point that they were doing a serialized series, but that never came to fruition.

I would put the end of Dreamfall: the Longest Journey as one of the most moving and heartbreaking ending of a game ever, but I don't think it counts as a bad one.

It was kind of reminiscent of Empire Strikes Back, with Han in the carbonite.

Mass Effect 2. The final boss felt seriously out of place, like they tacked it on out of some strange obligation that required an "epic" boss fight at the end of a game.
Also,
I have to choose between either destroying the only source of knowledge we have about the Reapers and their technology because "it was used for evil, it must be destroyed!", or I must hand it over to Cerberus, who will most likely use it for terrorism in some way. Why the hell can't I hand it over to the Council or Alliance? I may not like those guys, but at least I can trust them with technology that might save/destroy the galaxy, not like The Illusive Man, who I am almost absolutely certain will screw you over in some way at the start of ME3
