Silent Hill - if the horrors spawned from your own fears and regrets don't drive you mad, the Goddamn puzzles will! Also, once I reached a waist-high fence I couldn't pass, I'd get a bit testy, to put it mildly.

This is a YMMV according to personal fears, I propose a category of gameworlds.

ENEMIES:
ENVIORNMENT:
MINDFUCK:

That's all I got for now.

Also;
Dead Space
Demon Soul's
Silent Hill

Almost said Persona 3 because I realized a couple weeks ago in a case of Fridge Logic, that rape occurences must have skyrocketed during that whole incident.

Im gonna go with Dantes Inferno being how you have A) a battlefield in somewhere between europe and the holy land, B) a platform on which you a puny not Dante human fight the Grim Reaper, or C) Hell itself which gets progressively worse the farther down you go, shit even in limbo its still eternal damnation

Or alternatively any Halo game since your either gonna be a near brain dead Marine(who is most likely doomed), one of billions of defenceless civilians that is also gonna die....or worse than that even....the Flood could getcha *huddles up into a ball and cries at the thought*

WH40K. I either end up as a nameless grunt or just be an average citizen being hunted by the inqusition. Or just die a horrible death as Imperial Guard.
you could also be a farmer living in peace on a nice planet in Tau-space. Nobody bothers you and before the whole Tau empire is swallowed by the Imperium, overrun by orcs/chaos/necrons or converted into tyranid biomass you are most likely dead

ot: fallout, life after the end of the world sucks

Metro 2033... because... well, it's basically fallout only fallout + claustrophobia. Also if I ended up in Amnesia, I would slit my throat within 5 seconds. With my fingernails if I can't find something sharp.
Alternatively, the world of flower, So F**KING BORING!!!! And no other humans!

The Gears of War-verse is pretty screwed up. Just war and a teeny fraction of humanity left, and they're almost all soldiers.

Dwarf Fortress. Easily. Especially when Raiding parties are implemented.
Raiding parties?! And I thought the game was dangerous enough as it is...
Yep - Toady said at one point that like all events which currently only occur in the history generator; Raids, invasions, warfare, and skirmishes between factions will become very real.

Personally, some of the items said here I could deal with. Fallout would be hell but a hell that is livable in. Demon's Souls would suck like all hell but then again you are immortal for as long as you have that Nexus binding and after getting out you would be a demi-god. Halo would also suck but then again you'll likely know more about military combat then the marines and if you don't go to boot-camp and learn the easy way.

Dead Space would be a major one for me as unless you've memorized everything or have a detailed map with you, you will either (1 Walk into a safe room (2 Come face to face with a 'morph or (3 enter a room with either no gravity or oxygen). Silent Hill would also be bad as you'd probably piss your self after encountering one creature.

Now, for the first items, if you weren't in a good enough position to get/find any weapons/magic/armor/The Jesus Christ of their universe then yes they would be hell and you would die horribly, painfully, maybe a bit strangely. I still think I could make it in those realities :)

Personally, I'd hate to be in any Grand Theft Auto universe as a civilian. If I can borrow a line from Yahtzee, most people in those universes tend to kill three people before breakfast, the term revolving door prisons don't even do the system (in that game) justice...and the locks on your cars never seem to work.

Starcraft as one of the grunts.
think about it, permanently condemned to follow orders to someone you'll never ever see.Even if it means running alone headfirst into a Zerg, Protoss, or Terran base.

I think that the Fallout universe won't be that bad if you are a survivalist.
Except Minecraft, Endless world, Zombies and creepers, The nether...

If you think about it, you have an insane AI wisecracking to you every 5 minutes or so, getting more and more homicidal and spooky, other robotic nasties attempting to kill you at every turn, a device that you dont fully understand and the fact that your alone in a laboratory that shows signs of once being inhabited and finding crrepy messages left right and center.
Not cool at all

Fallout is a pretty rough world to live in. As is Silent Hill, Warcraft.

Pfft... pretty much all game worlds are unpleasant to live in.
