There was an earthquake in the UK a few years ago that didn't measure up to much but when I realised what it was and having never experienced an earthquake before, I thought it was pretty much the end of the world.

That's so terrible that you win this thread... And I meant that in the most serious manner possible.
Thanks for the wins and kind thoughts, but I gotta share it with Dege84, Jaranja and Slaanax. There may be more who had this kind of a wake up (this thread is huge), but those are the ones I know for sure had the same thing happen:

Some people just don't have what it takes, eh? Simmilar thing happened to me, the author was sort of a friend of mine: Hey...your girlfriend has drowned. I'm sorry.

Jaranja said:
Something similar.

"Wake up Chris, your Dad's dead."

That's probably the worst way I was waken up also. Replace your name with mine.

Anyway, there are so many bad ways to wake up in this thread. I think the only good way is with a kiss.

Edit - I knew I'd miss someone - Squiggles. Sorry Squigs.

Me too, I was 8 yrs old when at 4am my uncle comes in to wake me and my cousin
"Michelle, Lauren, Grannies just died.. come and pay your respects"
We were sleeping in the next room. You should never have to see a dead body at 4am in the morning...

Woke up due to a nightmare where my dead grandmother was hovering above me, grinning evilly.

At about 5 am one morning a couple months ago, I got a phone call from the hospital saying my mother had been moved to the Critical Care Unit and would probably die that day.

You are kidding me right? Was your mom actually dead or did he just want you up.
Unfortunately I'm not kidding, she had died. But in my father's defense, he had been camped out in my mother's hospital room for weeks and had her brought home for the end. He'd been up all night with her playing her favorite music really loud for her. Kinda sweet actually but also that was his way. He was one of those insane early risers who felt anyone who didn't get up at 4AM was a lazy scoundrel and deserved no courtesy or kindness.

One night I fell asleep at a (great) party. Then I woke up with my "pals" oversized snapping turtle trying to eat my nose. FUN.

An elbow drop into my mid back. Wasn't a fake one either, hurt like hell -_-

Or when my sister was younger, she'd come in and jump on my bed and back to wake me up, one day I was on my back and her knee found a tender region between my legs to jump on...

I don't know of any bad time I've been woken up, but if I take the 'been' out of there, I have a bad way that I've just WOKEN up.
I woke up AS I was falling out of bed, and it was one of those kiddie beds that have large drawers underneath them so it was a good 3 feet off the ground. I regained conciousness coincidentally the second before I dropped off the edge and I clutched what bed sheets I could and dragged them off with me.
Funnily enough, being that my bed was about a foot away from the wall, that's the direction I fell. So there I was, on the floor, rolled up in bed sheets, wedged in between my bed and the way.
