The worst way to introduce anyone to gaming would be "This is metal gear solid 4 guns of the patriots"

A few hours later...

"Yes, it has to install for every act."

"Yes, there are a lot of cutscenes."

"No, I don't know what the hell is going on and I haven't been able to follow the plot since metal gear solid 2."

"No, you don't get to play as the breakdancing cyborg ninja."

"Yes, you have to play as the old man with incredibly tight rubber suit."

"Yes, I am aware that main character is an old grey one eyed solid snake... and yes it is funny that writer did not pick up on that."

"Yes, the game expects you to take its plot seriously."

"Yes, Otacon is a whinging gobshite."

"Yes, Sunny is pretty annoying too."

"No, I am not explaining the plot of the previous games...You won't believe me anyway."

"Yes, IGN and gamespot both gave it 10/10 and no, I don't have a fucking clue why."
I was thinking about saying that but if they like movies they will make popcorn and watch it.

I would say the worst way to introduce them to gaming is give them Terminator Salvation the game

I will be honest, despite WoW's awful community, the kids of CoD, the flamers of Counterstrike and the stupidity of many, many Battlefield players...no community has ever seemed quite as awful to me as the DotA and DotA-clone (MOBAs, I think they're called now?) games.
That's because there aren't any worse communities than those found in MOBA's.

Let them play any Valve made multiplayer game. I seem to find a lot of elitists on them..
Really? TF2 has the nicest community of a game I've ever played.

Throw every World of Warcraft disk at their head until they feel introduced.
I was wondering why throwing the game itself at them came up so late. I mean, to me that'd be a pretty bad introduction to gaming.

My brother tried to get me to stop liking games by making me grind levels for him so I would A) get me off his back while he was trying to do stuff by himself and B) so he could just play through the story without having to grind levels. Well, it had the opposite effect and I actually love games and do enjoy the grind, although not nearly as much as I used to. I'd like to think it's helped me, particularly when I have a lot of homework to do or something, I just get down and do it, a little at a time, with the same mentality that helps me get through grindy bits in games. So yeah, not that.

Catwoman!!

or better, force them to play nothing but movie tie-ins :D
Oh my....movie-tie-ins. Batman Begins comes to mind for me. But there's worse.
Maybe Doctor Jekyl and Mister Hyde for the NES.

Imagination is dead. All we have left is Hard Difficulty and Terrible Games.

No argument there. The majority of my imaginative capacity is "how could I hurt someone with this?"

Improvised weapons FTW. More games need to include them.

Deus Ex Human revolution on "Give Me Deus Ex" difficulty.

Good luck.
It wasn't that hard. Of course if you don't sneak around and just run and gun then yeah, it would be a friggin' nightmare.

OT: Make them play Duke Nukem Forever.

Worst. Gaming. Experience. Ever.

, give them something very challenging with a stupidly complex interface and/or control scheme, that has no tutorials and offers little help to the players, and gives them no context of the story so that you have no idea why you're actually playing.
So basically.. give them The Witcher?

Totally. I'd forgotten about The Witcher actually, probably because i gave up on it before i got past the first area because of the reasons i mentioned above.
