Ok, I don't know how well it'd work, but I really wouldn't mind seeing a zombie flick faithfully based on World War Z. A documentary/flashback type of movie.

Also, I know this thread is more about bad zombie flicks, but Fido was fantastic. Cheesy as all hell, but it was seriously good.

I can't bring myself to watch Zombie Strippers. Won't even seek it out, actually. And 28 Days Later was only zombie-esque in nature. Not technically a zombie flick. They were still live people merely exhibiting zombie-like tendencies. Also, the speed thing? Good for a jump thrill, but not good for the slow, nerve shattering, relentless destruction of your psyche by an ever present, single-minded antagonist such as the true zombie.

Damn, the more I think about it, the more I really do want to see World War Z in a flick. Flashbacks of people clearing out the United States walking into their own homes? Could be powerful shit. A 'serious' zombie flick, much in the same way the book wasn't just schlock bullshit pseudo-horror.

Also, a bit of a ramble there, huh?
Then you should be glad to read this.

I'd say the worst ones I've seen are Resident Evil 2 and 3; I thought the first one was quite good (though admittedly the first zombie film I'd seen) because it still had a nice claustrophobic feel about it and was focusing on the zombies. But what the hell was up with all the mind powers-they didn't even make it a main part of the story.

I was also quite disappointed with Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead-Land of the Dead was just kind of like Resident Evil 2 and completely sucked, and Diary of the Dead tried to do an interesting take on the genre, but in the end I think seemed to end up as more of a social commentary in the context of a zombie apocalypse as opposed to being all about the zombie apocalypse.

George Romero's a genius though.

The worst zombie movie I have ever seen has to be 28 weeks later.

28 days later was pretty good but I thought that they were just desperately trying to follow up on it's success with 28 weeks, it just felt like a case of 'same shit, different timeline'.

I also didn't like the Resi movies that much, to me it seemed that they were desperately trying to have their cake (please the fans) and eat it (please those unfamiliar with Resi) which resulted in it getting somewhat over the top at times.

i like to NOT think about the part early in 28 weeks later where he gouges out his wife's eyes after the kiss. Carrier form? Pfft, it was just a lame excuse to kick off a sequel for 28 Days, which wasn't too bad on its own.

i haven't seen ANY of these zombie movies you all speak of. i played Left 4 Dead though, simply because it's by Valve...and they're pretty much the shit when it comes to making games (can't wait to see HL2 Ep 3!!!).

I agree with the idea that the whole 'running' concept was created because today people don't get scared as easily. Zombies are supposed to shuffle around and groan at you with their arms raised, but if they bare their teeth, hiss, scream and bum-rush in packs of 50 or more, and MAYBE if they claw the limbs and face off of a hapless under-developed non-essential character (with gore/limbs/blood-spray special effects included of course), chosen only for his/her ability to scream really realistically, these days you tend to find yourself more open to the idea of sleeping with the light on ;D

While it was definitely "so bad, it's hilarious", I must agree with House of the Dead. Holy crap, that was bad. Seriously, editing in flashes of HOTD 2 (the video game)?

I -really- enjoyed DeadSet, the E4 special they did last year for Halloween, zombies much like the ones in 28 Days/Weeks Later, and the last surviving people are the ones left in the Big Brother house.

I hate Big Brother with a loathing passion, but it was awesome seeing people stupid enough to sign up that piece of shite of a TV show getting eaten alive. You also see some of the old housemates from the older BB's get eaten and then killed. Sweet sweet justice, if only acted :(

Planet Terror? This one was made intentionally for the "lols" though, so it can't really be valid in this topic.
M16 + grenade launcher as a prosthetic leg = pwn.
But the answer is Zombie Strippers...Honestly...

They are making WWZ into a movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816711/ I really hope it turns out well. If done correctly I think critics will hate it since it won't be a typical zombie flick. However, I will love it.

My worst zombie movie ever would probably have to be Zombie Nightmare (1986) staring Adam West.

Here is a link to the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version if anyone is interested. (I'm assuming that there is no copyright issue since it's on Google Video)

I think they have tried to high-jack the publicity of George Ramero's "The Diaries of the Dead" (which was a bit disappointing).
no way Diary of the Dead was good, it was a real throw back to the old style of "of the dead" series

as for bad movies, the new Day of the Dead was bad

omg that movie was ssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
boring
and slow paced
and very horrble effects and way low budget. shit was straight to dvd.

Do the movies where Jason Voorhees is undead count as zombie movies at all? Because if so, Friday the 13th: Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan was pretty fucking terrible.

Technically Jason isn't a zombie he's half Deadite(evil dead) I know I am a total nerd for knowing this but the idea of a sequel to "Freddy vs Jason" was "Freddy vs Jason vs Ash" the idea to make a movie was scraped but it was turned into a comic book series. In the series you learn Jason's mother rose Jason from the grave using the Necronomicon. Thus making him half deadite not a zombie.

As I said total nerd knowledge

You know George Romero actually had the idea before JJ, it's just that he released the film later.
