So I did a search on the forums here and I didn't satisfactorily find what I was looking for there. I am looking for recommendations for skyrim mods that are less specific (simple armor sets) and more like general enhancements of the game as a whole, like the OOO mods for Oblivion. I suppose you could say I'm looking for "mandatory" mods or something like that.

Well unless you give specifics I can only recommend you look for the top rated stuff.

Obviously, you'll want to get the Calientes nude mod, the breast and butt physics mod, the catwalk animation mod, lingerie clothing mods and the Animated Prostitution mod.

But if you're one of those weirdo's who're into combat and stuff... SkyUI, Dance of Death Killmove mod, and if you have the Dawnguard expansion, the Better Vampires mod.

Graphically, there are plenty of retextures of vegetation, water, there are weather mods,...

As Mr.K suggested, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/top/ are the best mods you'll find. You can filter by category too.

well first of all id recommend this rather beautiful player home called the asteria

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13641

then id probably recommend the sky ui.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863

and of course more armor sets have never hurt anybody.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19733

also in case you're a pervert there's the CBBE bodies which make the female bodies in skyrim better, id give a link but the mod page includes pictures of naked woman and im farily sure that is not allowed here.

also if you want a armor set to go along with the CBBE then there is always killer keos skimpy armor mods.

There is only one mod you need to have an ideal Skyrim experience. And that is this. It transforms the game from a fun RPG into fucking art. The excellence of this mod cannot be overstated.

Aside from that, I'm a big fan of the Skyrim Scaling Stopper. Basically eliminates all of the level scaling from the game. Makes it much more challenging and interesting. It also has a bunch of compatibility patches for other mods, but you unfortunately need Dawnguard for them to work.

Especially the start of the game turns into something unbelievable... Not giving spoilers here, but the rumble in the distance becomes something else indeed.

Just an FYI you are going to need the Skyrim Script editor for a lot of these.

Here's a video if you don't know how to install it.

Oh and you should also get the Nexus mod manager. It makes downloading mods easier.

Hmm these are all good suggestions...minus the macho man...
Anyway I've gotten a lot of these in the past couple hours, it just seems like there's a mind boggling amount of environmental ones.

Make sure to get the Unofficial Skyrim Patches. There's one for the main game and one for each DLC. Makes such a big difference in playability.

Unofficial Patches are must-haves for me. I would also recommend Climates of Tamriel.

I plan on getting the pc version simply so I can get a mod which eliminates spiders from the game. Fucking spiders. I'll have to buy a decent computer and download all these mods which people say are the best simply because I want to play this game but fuck those spiders, really.

Capcha: hugger-mugger... WHAT THE FUCK?! What relevance does that have to anything? The fuck?

Does it enhance the sound and graphics or something?
