Would anyone jump ship (leave their country) if they could?

If there were no financial/language barriers to your moving to another country would you?

My girlfriend and I have pretty much decided on getting the hell out of the US as soon as college is done with...where we'll go? Probably Japan or Canada...

Well, considering my wife is from England, we were debating here in the States or there for settling down. No language barrier (mostly) is a pretty sweet benefit.

So, basically, sure.

Also, if you choose Japan, I suggest you research it and it's language and customs EXTENSIVELY before doing so. It can be quite the culture shock. And by this, I mean more than just reading manga and cosplaying as Bleach characters.

I'd have to agree with that. I just want a change of pace. Probably the same move that you'd make all in all. I've also considered England, Sweden, Australia, or New Zealand. I'm not saying it's the worst thing ever here, but given the option I could go for another place.

Well, then it should be easier for you to acclimate yourselves then, eh? :)

Yes. Sweden is nice and all, but there's a whole wide world out there, wouldn't mind seeing it.

denmark is possibly the most grey and boring(and rainy) country right after scotland..... australia seems very appealing, industrial nation with a lot of nature still intact... also nice weather is a big draw along with colour.... the most colour i see is on the TV unless its a local program where everything is also gray and boring.

maybe cuba.. seems like a nice dictatorship

I would leave, gladly. I don't even have any real preference as long as it's not someplace really cold or really conservative. I live in the US and frankly I'm fed up with being in a so-called first world country that does not have government provided healthcare. It's horrible to be sick and deal with people who obviously think that if you're too poor to afford care you should just die. >:[

The U.S. is my home and even though it is not perfect, I would like to stay here. This does not mean I don't want to travel anywhere else. I would like to visit family back in Japan again and see other countries as well.

Living in Holland at the moment and having it great here. If I would ever move out it would be either to Spain or Canada.

Already did.

I left the UK for Australia, and I would rather die than go back. I honestly cannot imagine a better place to live.

i would like to move to ireland. new zealand would be nice but i hear that they are really picky about who they let live there. i live in a desert shithole so it would be nice to move somewhere green. plus i love the irish traditional music. i love playing my tin whistle.

With the politics in America, I'd like to leave the US. It's not heading down a good route. I want to have my honeymoon in Italy so...

But then again, I'd like to be somewhere with crystal clear blue water and white sand beaches.
