Well that depends on a lot.

For starters it'd be near impossible for a zombie to find a ninja, let alone bite it.
If a ninja was bitten however it would spell doom for us all, one ninja vs every other ninja inevitably results in victory for the lone ninja.
Because of course the ninja wouldn't maintain his honor by killing himself before the infection took hold.

Of course he wouldn't.
Even if I'm wrong in thinking that it was only samurai who killed themselves for honour, the corpse would already possess the virus and therefore reanimate soon after.

note that I am not familiar with the different names for zombie types, Romero zombies may be the kind that are still technically alive whilst simply having reverted to base instincts (eat)
in which case yes, killing oneself would suffice.

The Ninja will adapt to a foe that's immune to most attacks.
The ninja has the advantage of a functional brain and the intelligence associated with one.
The Zombies on the other hand, don't.

The Ninja will survive.

Katana is capable of cutting a tank in half.
It can also cut zombie's head in half. Win.

Yes, ninja would do very well against the zombie horde. They are experts at dodging attacks and handling assaults. Their wide weaponry, everything from bow and arrow to katana and pole arms, fire traps, smoke bombs, spiky traps... they would do very well. Most of all, their speed and ability to access areas zombies could not would be pivotal.

I shall be a sheep.

Both real and fictional (both TV/movie and anime) ninja would be fine. Anime ninja have super powers, jutsu attacks and other magic for defence and offence, not to mention that they are capable of sweeping through a dozen enemies in a split second and cutting them to shreds.

TV/movie ninja can backwards jump into trees, make clones of themselves and disguise themselves as anything as well as run through bamboo forests and on water like they're flying.

Real ninja would wound the zombies by use of darts, arrows and shuriken by kneecapping them, then use weapons for beheading or delimbing or failing that, I'm certain an accomplished hand-to-hand martial artist could avoid being bitten.

I do think, if it is shambling Romero Zombies against properly trained, historically acurate Ninja's, that the Ninja could win. A well trained Ninja could run about 70 kilometers in a day over unever terrain, and then do it again the next day (really). They could also support their weight for hours with just their arms, will making it look like they were laying on a ceiling (again, actually true).

Due to these facts, plus the fact that Ninja's were also masters of many weapons, I have to believe that Ninja's could kill whatever Zombies got near them, and still have enoughn time to create either a proeprly defensible position, or a route of escape.

Everyone seems overly focused on what type of zombie we're talking about. I feel what really matters is what type of ninja we're talking about. Specifically, how many ninjas are there and how many are wearing th same outfit.

A ninja with a unique outfit is a badass and only vulnerable to another ninja with a unique outfit. Dozens or hundreds of ninjas wearing the same outfit are made of paper and probably equal in prowess to a single Romero zombie.

Uniquely dressed ninjas would slay thousands of zombies.

I'd have to say... No
During a zombie apocalypse there would be no need for ninja, as they would be counter productive as rebuilding civilization would mean NO ONE should fight each.
The last thing you need is peasents spiing on everyone.

That's actually a inventive question.
I mean shurikens don't do that much damage to zombies, but katanas on the other hand are very destructive.
They cut through flesh as a knife cuts through butters and handled by a skilled person, they can do a lot of harm. A cut to the right place and bam, there goes the zombie.

Although personally I think that getting on melee with a zombie is a bad idea, you would want to get away and shoot at them.

Now, imagine if a ninja dies and is turned into a zombie...

An effect tactic for any skilled and efficient armed or well trained force to deal with a large number of zombies:

1: Dig a very large hole
2: fill hole with fuel (napalm, gasoline, booze, so long as the zombies catch fire)
3: light match
4: lure zombie toward hole
5: push zombie in
6: repeat step 4 and 5 till all zombies dealt with

This plan can be effectively used by ninjas by having a large number of ninjas silently dig a hole of an appropriate size(large enough to keep them from crawling out). Then two ninjas (always move in pairs never alone) lure a number (preferably 1) zombie toward the hole. Using chain weapons they can easily trip or pull the zombie into the pit from a safe distance, and using their incredible ninja acrobatics they can then jump to the other side of the pit or hide or go get more zombies.

Well again looking at historically accurate ninja....

their weapons are traditionally modified farm tools... they are clans of commoners used as mercs and assassins for one daimyō to wipe out another, or even attempt the life of the shōgun, or really anyone else in the samurai class, or just in general.

they avoided armor, quite often preferred wearing normal every day clothes as to blend in with the common population/grounds keepers of an estate to get closer to their target

they focused on a kill quick and get away...the shurikin was never a killing weapon, it was a distraction weapon to allow them to get away... their houses are loaded with hiding places to avoid raids....

but they are very very well versed in anatomy, and once the knowledge of " aim for the head" became established, it would spread very fast..

then going back to knights, and samurai....though samurai are blessed with much much better maneuverability than a western knight...both are quite well protected from anything a zombie could do...bite, scratch......samurai and knight are both in trouble is heavily swarmed...but both have the luck of weapons to keep things out of range....

personally I've always said in a ZA I stick to my naginata as it serves as two weapons in one, and no need for ammo.

Only in the company of nerds would this be considered a serious discussion. God i love it.

OT, it depends what type of ninjas. If were going Ninja Gaiden ninjas, then yes, they could. But real ninjas would probably have a harder time. Their stealth would be an advantage, and they'd probably have decent survivability, but as far as killing them goes i don't think they'd do so well.
